You might note that I spend too much of my life monitoring fence posts and barbed wire. I combine scouting for turkeys with taking pictures of birds on my favorite ranch! This is, I believe, a female western meadowlark.

Nicely done Howard! Come to Nebraska in the spring for more shots as the Sandhill cranes migrate north after stopping on the Platte River for weeks to eat in preparation for the last leg of their journey. An amazing experience.

Pretty bird, nice background. Well done, but IMO, a bit of noise reduction could go a long way

I appreciate your opinion Nalu. Here is another version that includes noise reduction.

This one reminded me of:

Joe Cocker, and others.

(As best I recall the words.)

Love the photo, thanks for posting it.

Thanks for the reference Wanderer2! All I could think of was "Mr. Bluebird on my shoulder...."

This bluebird was posing on a barbed wire fence on a ranch in the Sandhills of Nebraska.

This is a picture I took this past spring while watching a baby owl fledge. He is, of course, with his dad!

I also have a Canon 5D iii which I love and use with long lens for wildlife. My go to light camera is a Sony RX10 iii and the iv is the current one. It comes with a lens that is fixed to the camera and reaches out to 600mm! If you go to my topics with photos you will note that many of them come out of my Sony RX10! I love it and keep it next to me in my truck for quick shooting.

Great series UTMike! It looks like a tough life to be a bison.

I love my RX10III! It is great for indoor sports photography, birds, wildlife, low light and portrait photography. My other camera is a Canon 5D Mark III. They both take good pictures, but the Sony is always available for a quick shot and competes well with my Canon!
