Or, buy a USB card reader that will handle SDXC cards. Be sure that it says on the box that it will handle SDXC specifically. I had a card reader that only did SDHC, and it would not read SDXC cards. Then, you should be able to get the photos off the SDXC card and into your computer, or into a USB flash drive via your computer.

Thank you will do as my card reader are as old as my computers πŸ˜”

My laptop tends to grab and hold onto cards. My solution? Card reader.

Cheap enough to buy several, one for each computer. Have used for years, no problem. USB3. I also bought a 1 foot USB extension cable as the laptop's USB ports are on a downslope edge.

Thank you ☺️

I use lots of different SD cards in my multiple laptops' internal card readers. Laptops are 8-12 years old. Without being able to track specifics, I can say that some cards have not worked in some computers, while other cards work fine in the same computer.

Have you tried smaller, slower cards in the computers you are having trouble with?

For the Dell at least, check the Dell <support.dell.com> site to see if there is an SD card driver for your computer that is newer than the computer. It could possibly make the reader more capable.

Yes all my smaller cards work fine, thanks for your reply

Cards larger than 16gb are {I think that is where the switch occurs}formatted using "exFAT".
That format is patented by Microsoft, so others cannot openly provide it.
I found this out last summer, because an "exFAT reader" is now added to my Linux computers via addons.
You should see how this card is formatted and whether it could contribute to your problem.

Yes found out today from apple it is exfat so they suggested i connect camera to computer and that seems to work :)

May or may not be related. I play mp3 files from a flash drive in my 2018 Honda. 32 GB works fine, but 64 does not. Do you have a 32(or smaller) GB SDXC card and does that allow viewing images?
Mark

No my largest is a Lexar16 multi use, this new 64GB SDXC is the 1st card I’ve had trouble with thinking I may have to go for smaller card πŸ˜”

It is possible that a firmware update or a memory reader driver update might be available for the Dell. I'd suggesting calling Dell support and asking whether that might be an option. If an appropriate update is available, it would be a free fix to your problem. It is not possible to update to compatibility with cards that have two rows of contacts in this manner, but it is likely that compatibility can be established with cards beyond 16 or 32 GB.

Thank you 😊

They won't list what they don't support, or what didn't exist when the manual was printed. But, you might get a lead on possible limitations.

Thank you 😊

That age presents a risk. Check the computer websites and see of you can find a PDF manual for each specific model, might be listed there.

Thank you will definitely check into it :)

Are the card readers in your various computer equipment certified to read SDXC type cards?

I have know idea? The Dell is older and the iMac is a 2015. Is there some on the computer that would tell me?

Just bought a Sandisk Extreme Pro SDXC 64GB (speed up to 170MB/s) from Amazon (wasn't`t 3rd party) worked well in my D7500 but iMac & husbands Dell won't read card :( I did finally get photos of card on dell through a card reader then transferred to a jump drive which then opened on my iMac. I thought maybe a bad card, i called sandisk and said to get ahold of who i purchased it from. I requested a new card thinking it was faulty but second card acted the same. Any thoughts would be appreciated as I am still wanting to by another card larger than my 16GB as camera only has one slot. Gail
