after hearing a podcast years ago i tried auto ISO. the results were terrible; my nikon picked ISO 1600 for most shots. my shots were taken in the day, w/some shots containing shadows. lots of noise in the shadows. never again.
i shoot manual and most of the time ISO 64.
thanks for the feedback. i shoot my nikon d810. crested butte is great 3 seasons.....fall is fabulous. it's a ski town....so it gets a lot of snow (i left out winter season). it's an outdoor haven for sure.
in colorado. i bet the residents in these "cabins" enjoy their morning coffee. north of crested butte.
nice shots. some in my opinion are sky replacement candidates; a couple seem to have a blue color cast.
what's all that white stuff? like those images
thanks. it was definitely off the beaten path!
cool old tractor......cooler backdrop....now that's Colorado!

Awesome, thank you!
i think we both nailed some cool photos beth. the neat thing about the "photo train" is that you get the chance for unique photos of the train in spots that it ordinarily does not stop. a plus was, as i think i said in my youtube video is that the train usually did two "pass by's" so we could get two different perspectives. and yes, while it did cost a few bills, for what you received, it was a good experience that i have no regrets.
now, if most of my photos were blurry/out of focus....that would be a different matter. i'd have to look in the mirror and then i'd see where the blame lies!

Those are really nice, I have wondered it it was worth the money to do it. Your photos say yes!
I posted 2 YouTube videos: https://youtu.be/WzzbG3A5Zh0

Hope these help!

Thanks so much, I hope to be back to normal soon too, over 2 weeks it getting very old!
You should post your web site for the train!
ok.....website is: www.CoolingPhotography.com
click on "trains" page and you'll see several images of the train.
that's good stuff! i went on the fall photo train in oct. 2022; it was a lot of fun with the train stopping several times along the way. i even dedicated a page on my website to publish a few shots.
hope you get back in action soon.
that gets a "wow" from me!
nicely exposed. no grey snow! good job
thanks for the comments. it fits the day here in colorado...
