Jim I bought four 8TB SSD's (Seagate) from Costco on sale at Christmas. I have created a mini raid system with these. They are working great. I was all in at $400.00 It was a steal to come up with a total 64TB for that price. I bought a RSHTech 7 Port USB switch with power supply and run it to my 3.0 USB. I am able to do quad backups quickly. It could be faster but I am not complaining.

Say what? The cheapest 8 tb SSD is over $700. Heck, an 8 tb HDD is at least $120. You must be trippin'.

Agree 100%. I like tack sharp stopped water droplet effect, as well as 1/25 to 1 sec shot, which really highlight the action of the falls. Depending on the falls and desired mood, up to 30 seconds works for me... the dreamy effect is artistic and a personal choice, but I know that it is appreciated by many viewers.

That dreamy effect at the beach/oceanside can also be awesome, and often needs 1-2 minutes if not longer.

For the real thing, video with sound is another great way to go. Making a video and adding stills is great way to really present all the looks in one file.

My Dell Allienware R5 running Win 10 does both. eg' MY passport (J:), Dell Portable Hard Drive (K:) Not sure if all windows machines do this.

All my 3 Win 10 PC's do that. As do my two laptops, which I switched to Win 11. It's nice for easier drive id when you have several. I have as many as 5 internal drives (2 NVMe SSD, 1 Sata SSD, 2 HDD, and 1-4 Externals). Plus different card readers, which will show in device manager when not plugged in...

You didn't state whether you tried to access the drive. You should have been able to, regardless of the drive letter.

That said, go into disk management, click on the drive and change the letter.

First was a 4 mp Canon G2 spring 2002... then a couple more compact cameras. I upgraded my Canon 1N to a 1D Mk II in 2005, and have since progressed to 5D II, 7D, 5D III, 7D II, 5D IV and now the R5, while still using the 5D IV and 7 D II.

I understand that, and have no desire to get an EF-S mount only lens. I was merely attempting to clear up the confusion that might have been caused by the other poster introducing a completely different lens to the discussion.

I use my Samsung 8.5mm or Opteka 6.5mm Fisheye lenses on full frame Sony mirrorless cameras. Of course you get a nice round image with a slightly flat top and sides but with a little cropping they still work well. I had a Rokinon 8.5mm with a nonremovable lens hood that showed up in the images; however, they released a later version with a removable lens hood which resolved the problem.

They're actually a lot of fun... Enough said.

I think you meant to type Samyang. (Rokinon) It's 8mm....and I also have the HD w/removable hood. I like the resultant (almost) circular image w/FF bodies.

I have a Rokinon 8mm f3.5 that I have had for several years and I love mine. When I bought it I used a Canon T1i and I was never disappointed with it. I have also used it with my 50D and now my 90D. Yes they are all crop sensor and just maybe that is why I am so happy with it. If I use it right I don't see all the distortion you might expect. In fact my wife, who hated pictures taken with fisheye lenses most often didn't know she was looking at those I took for her. I also have several other "Cheap" lenses that I have enjoyed for years because when you don't have the cash for the expensive things many of the cheap lenses and other camera things works just fine.

Yeah. I've used mine on my crop bodies.... 7 D, now the II..... but it's still a fisheye. I mainly shoot astro with my 14 f/2.8, which is faster and better optically...and the 24 f/1.4, which is a peach for milky way panorama image compilations. FF sensors are a lot better for high ISO night shots.

While the Rokinon lens would certainly work well on your 90D, I'm not sure that's the best choice. It's a full frame lens and yours is an APS-C camera.

Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM and EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM are both excellent optically. The more expensive 10-22mm is both faster and better built, while the 10-18mm is a real bargain, has image stabilization, but is a bit plasticky and not quite as fast focusing (although you will see little difference in speed because ultrawides like these hardly need to move their focusing elements at all to go from near to far or far to near).

However, the Rokinon lens is manual focus only... while both the Canon lenses have excellent AF systems.

Rokinon SP 10mm f/3.5 for Canon EF......... $899
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM......... $649 (plus $35 for Canon Hood EW-83E or $10 for Vello hood)
Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM..... $299 (plus $25 for Canon Hood EW-73C or $12.50 for Vello hood)

Prices are for new (at B&H). Both the Canon lenses have been around for a while, so it's pretty easy to find nice used ones for a bit less money. They also may show up refurbished at the Canon website (same warranty as new).

The Rokinon has a convex front element that precludes using standard screw-in filters. You may be able to get a specialized clamp on filter holder and square filters for it, but those typically cost around $300 for the holder and a couple filters. In comparison the Canon 10-22mm uses standard 77mm filters, while the 10-18mm uses 67mm.

Note the hoods for the Canon lenses are not included, are sold separately. Because of it's built-in lens hood and convex front element, the Rokinon lens uses a special lens cap. The Canon lenses use standard caps.

If you were using a full frame camera, the Rokinon 10mm lens would be a good choice. But since your 90D is an APS-C camera, either of those Canon ultrawides would likely be a better choice.

I've been using the Canon 10-22mm for a five or six years. It's an excellent ultrawide. Sharp and one of the most flare resistant of all the ultrawides. My only complaint is that the hood is quite large... but I still use it because it works.

I'm not knocking the Rokinon lens. They're quite well made. In fact, I've got a different Rokinon lens that I use on my Canon M5.

You can probably find some reviews of the Rokinon lens on YouTube.

Check out The-Digital-Picture.com for very thorough reviews and extensive testing done with the Canon lenses. Bryan extensively reviews Canon gear, as well as some others. He has done test shots with the Rokinon 10mm, but has not done a full review of it. Plus, the test shots with it were done on a full frame, 50MP 5DS-R... making them somewhat hard to compare to an EF-S lens on an APS-C camera.

Wrong lens. The OP asked about the 10mm f/2.8, which is for an EF-S body. I own three Rokinon/Samyangs and never heard of this $900 lens. Reading about it, it's claimed to be rectilinear. Sounds interesting. But my 14mm Rokinon is plenty wide for most of my Milky Way shoots. I rarely use my 8mm fisheye..... If this lens were cheaper, I'd be interested, but not at $900. Again, this is the lens the OP is asking about https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1039916-REG/rokinon_10m_c_10mm_f_2_8_ed_as.html/?msclkid=b43f79921e211b2d24681bd822924974

I am thinking of purchasing a Rokinon 10mm f2.8 ultra wide angle prime lens for my Canon 90D camera. Has anyone had any experience with this lens? I thought it might be a fun lens to work with providing some unique perspective in some photos. Your thoughts?

Go for it!

I own three Rokinon/Samyang lens. My 8mm fisheye produces a circular image, but rectangular on my crop sensor 7D II. I use my 14 f/2.8 and 24 f/1.4 primarily for astro shooting always at infinity and wide open. They're very good lenses for astro, especially at their low price point.

I love the one I have and find it very useful rather than just a 10mm gimmick lens.

On a 1.6x crop body, 10mm becomes 16, so clearly not a gimmick lens, but a great super-wide.

On your 90d, it’ll appear as a 16mm field of view and would likely show distortion at close distances. Manual focus, as well, indicates to me that it will be best suited for landscape shooting, where you can set focus at infinity. So, stopped down or not, unless you shoot with a shutter speed better than 1/200, I suggest being on a tripod. I owned a used Rokinon fish-eye for a while and was generally pleased with results…..but, to be honest, quickly grew bored with it and was happy that I purchased used rather than new. I’m thinking you’re interested in the lens for more curiosity than function, so I definitely recommend you shop the used market. All that said, it’s reviews from users is fairly positive, so if you buy, enjoy!

This is a rectilinear lens. No need for a tripod for daylight. And no need to focus at infinity. It takes a bit of practice to focus a super wide manual focus lens, but can easily be achieved.

What is recommend for a monitor?

For photo editing, I prefer large 4K monitors. I have one 27", two 32", all inexpensive ones that work fine and are ok, color wise. But I also have one of the best, the now discontinued 32" BenQ SW 320. I paid far less than its $1600 retail price, used on ebay. It's perfect.

PassMark on your AMD CPU is 10% faster on multithreaded tasks (2 more cores) but ~20% slower on single thread tasks. As far as the GPUs, their PassMark speeds are almost identical. And if you read the Dell specs, there are 2 DRAM DIMM sockets, so he can add another 16 GB.

But here’s the question. The OP is obviously not a computer savvy nerd like you or me, so what does he do for warranty and support? (And I notice you’re not including an OS). You need to sell your components to someone who is comfortable building their own machine, installing their own OS and going to the individual component mfgs for warranty work after diagnosing the issue, and that is NOT the OP.

All good points. But I could include Windows 10 or 11. The CPU is 15% faster.... yes I know single core for the new 12th gen Intels is faster..... the GPU is probably poorly made, as gamersnexus found. NVMe drive is slower... DDR5 ram is still expensive, I think and has yet to show it's a big improvement, iirc. Power supply is adequate but is it quality? motherboard is likely proprietary..... mine was the top Gigabyte X470 board.

I just felt like throwing my info out there. I did doubt that my idea would interest the OP. I've never sold a PC...lots of components, yes! My #1 PC is powered by the awesome 5950X (64 gb 3600 ram, and two PCI 4.0 Samsung 980 Pro NVMe's, and a GTX 1080--waiting for the 3070's to get under $700...)... and I have an even better X570 Master mb to switch it into, and then a 3900X to put in the X570 Aorus Ultra and make it #2 PC... then many if not all my current #2 components will be for sale.
