I have been (or rather, was) a teacher of painting abNd drawing for many years and you know what ? I to this day don't know much about composition!
I DO KNOW when something feels right and usually what direction to go in.
But composition is such a subjective topic....I Used to tell my students that trying to talk about it is like trying to put someone's hat on for them. You never get it just right.
And, how to talk about composition in a piece like this?
