The race last night in the marsh pond was over almost as soon as it started.
Even moving at flank speed, the alligator was no match for it's winged competitor.
Egret paid $2.40 on a $2 bet.
Not a huge payout by any means but not too bad considering he was the overwhelming favorite. :-D

There were several Heron fishing off the bank, but this guy had found the "honey hole". He looks like he surprised himself when he came up with four at a time and he wasn't quite sure how to get all of them down hi throat without loosing any of them. Unfortunately, through the viewfinder I didn't notice that he actually had four in his beak and had already moved on to another shot so I didn't get to see how he handled the situation.

Found natural in the bushes in my yard. It emerged and I was able to get some cool photos. The largest Silk moth in North America. I also was able to get it mating with another type of silk moth.

The wood stork moved the gator out of the area by hitting his/her tail. Look like a regular old round up. That probably won't happen in a year from now.

Great shots rufus1, from what I've seen over time is that most of the birds are not concerned with gators at all. They act like the gators aren't there

Thanks gatorgirl, with the water area shrinking a lot of competition going on and the pickins are getting scarce. The gator shot was at the other side of the big pond, actually to far for my lens.

Nice shots, ya that looks like a black widow the red hour glass would be on the belly. I would not mess with it to find out.
