my walk around lens is a 28-300, but I also carry a point and shoot for those shots that would need a shorter lens. That second camera, also has a high zoom. I find it necessary for candid shots, and times when I might not have carried the big guys with me. While I tend to use an extended zoom, even in an urban setting, I know some who think anything other than a prime lens at 50 to 85 mm, is crazy. Go with what ever you are comfortable with.

photos printed on canvas, come back stretched and mounted. Staples, doesn't do that. I use them all the time to create the posters.

"unclean and in little-bitty pieces!"
Sounds almost like you want to drop pork on them.

Mentioning the "Titanic" made me look for the life boats, and wonder if there are enough. and how long it would take to get to them from the upper deck.

Joseph Chilton Pierce, wrote a book called "Evolutions End". In it he discusses the difference in the brain mass of a domestic cat, versus a kitten that has grown up in the wild. The brain mass is significantly smaller in the house cat. Pierce stated somewhere in the same text, that the development of the human brain, had to pass through several stages of development, and that at an early stage cognitive development required social interaction. He postulates that children who watch television, for long periods of time at an early age, do not develop the mental skills, that are required at a later stage of life (I.E. For example the brain has not developed adequately to handle the first grade) Once the circuitry or capacity of the brain is diminished at an early stage of development, the basic structure is damaged. It may be that this is partially responsible for the results of the study of multi taskers.

Airport security can vary and be contradictory. I have had the person in front of me, who I was traveling with required to remove all licquid items because collectively they were more than 3 ounces. I have had my camera bag opened and every piece of equipment wiped down(they didn't touch the lens glass, but ran a cloth over everything looking for a response. I have been allowed to board with a spray can of deodorant in my luggage, and told that I could not, at the same airport. I was even told that I had to hand over all batteries I had in my camera and flash unit. I almost got arrested, because I refused. Most recently while flying on Virgin Atlantic, I had an overzealous steward who prevented my plugging a phone or ipod into a USB jack. The steward claimed that it was a fire hazard.

That is why the camera goes through the xray and not the magnetic detector, David. Years ago, when I carried high speed film, I would not let it go through the xray machine. Memory cards, cameras, and even credit cards may have problems with magnets

If all you are doing is comparing sensor size, full frame is always the better choice. But you might want to consider things, like the type of shooting you do, the price of the camera and how much it weighs, as well as the compatibility of any lens you now own.

I put the camera and memory cards through the xray machine, and have never had a problem. I would avoid walking through the magnetic detector, with any form of software.

Doesn't the camera come with it's own conversion program?

whether or not Walgreens sends something out depends on the location. I use them all the time when I am in Delray Beach, Florida. They do the work on site. I have never had a problem, Since it is only a few minutes from me, it is convenient. A few of the photographers I know use Costco, and seem happy with it. Some Walmart, Sam's club and other stores of this type do it on site. All will do it over without charge if there is a problem, which is one reason I look for someone local.

no. I got it as a house plant, because the others, didn't survive a lack of attention. But I tended to water the cactus, which was a mistake.

I tend to use a tripod for studio work or video, but will always take a small folding tripod along on field trips. I Find that for what I do, a mono pod is often more useful. I cary one which I use as a hiking staff or cane, as well as a mono pod, when traveling in different countries or over rough terrain. I also find it useful to place a mount for the camera on top of a large water bottle. A good compromise might be a mono pod, with legs that can be extended from the base. But like the perfect camera, it is really dependent on what you can take with you and what you are doing. Some tripods arem't
going to work out in the field, for me.
