Although I've changed over to the 580EX II, buying them used when I see a good price, the older 580EX is everywhere as good in terms of capability. The newer model changes the attachment slightly and provided better back-lit menus.

This is Delicate Arch and most of you have seen photos of it as it probably the most recognized natural arch in the world. In the background are the La Sal mountains and I even managed to have a half moon in the sky. Timing is everything.

This iconic location is not easy to get to. First of all do NOT try it in the Summer, (Temperatures over 100 degrees) I did this in October. There is about an 800 foot change in altitude from the parking lot to the arch. You are in the sun all the way to the top and you are walking over what the locals call "slick rock". Bring a good hat and lots of water.

So I have a Sony RX10MIV, kinda have a G9, (it’s sitting here in a box waiting to be shipped when get eBay payment), and my “main” camera is a Nikon Z7. The Sony is a specific use camera for me. It’s my kayak camera. There’s been no better option than that 600mm equivalent with great focus tracking at 24 fps when I’m in a kayak. The G9 is a fantastic camera. It’s really been one of the most enjoyable cameras to shoot that I’ve had. I originally got it for the kayak and travel. It was a little harder to handle in the kayak with the Leica 100-400 but doable. The problem was the one thing it wasn’t great at was wildlife. The AF was just too slow. In your situation the R5 will be equally adept at all the things the G9 is good at and of course much better for wildlife. The G9 makes a great small package with those M4/3 lenses, (although that R5 body might be smaller). You do have a nice investment in that system but you might want to see what you can get for it and invest in more R glass.

That doesn’t really end my story. Although I just sold the G9 with the 12-60 and last week sold the Leica 100-400 I’m still invested in M4/3 because I picked up an Olympus E-M1X, which with the Olympus 100-400 will be my wildlife rig for the time being. I’m also selling my D500 and Nikon 200-500, and my Olympus 300 f/4 which will more than cover my Z9.

I have three cameras, in my case all Sonys that I use. I carry around the RX 100 VII almost always. I also own the Sony RX 10 III and finally my the Sony AR7 IV. The last is my go to camera and when traveling. I often grab the RX10 when I do not want to or its not practical to carry my Mirror less camera. Often I'll use one of the two bridge cameras when changing the lens on my Mirror less is not practical or I'd miss the shot if I did so. I usually keep a 24-70 on the mirror less. The bridge cameras go to 200 and 600mm respectively. Of course, I also have my cell phone camera, but that is the last resort camera with certain exceptions.

What you need to do is ask yourself is how are you using your equipment. What I have is over kill, but it work for me.
