I love the way WOlfs are not afraid to make eye contact with humans. They are telling you that you are not a threat.

rg,
Your comment is to me spot on, watching the wolfs interactions with humans and between themselves.
The wolfs have a heirarchy and we humans don't enter into it. (Except the one that brings the food)

Mike, I looked at your photos first then had to read about them. At first my impression was that you shot these wolves in the wilderness. I don't wee any indication of human structures (which is good!). The wolves don't look very intimidating or dangerous, perhaps that is because they are being fed by the zookeepers and are never really hungry?!
Really nice photos. Everything seems to be spot on and I can't really complain about any of the shots........only say good things about them! Thanks for posting these Mike.

Brent,
Thank you for your reponse, I missed a couple oppurtunities where teeth were bared once over a bone, and another the Alpha Male got a little too close to the Alpha Females tail.
The snow does help hide the fact that the wolfs are in an enclosure.
If you had opinion on something different I would like to hear.

Have been a member of the zoo for many years... Great zoo

Larry,
Thanks for the Thumbs up, Zoo membership is a good thing, on the cold days or rainy days you can sometimes get to learn from the volunteers or keepers.

I think it is pretty well accepted that if there are muliple subjects, the preference for focus goes with the closest - and actually, having both in focus is generally not accepted either unless they are actually on the same plane (unavoidable) or for some other mitigating artistic reason. As always in photographic art, there is room for conjecture here.

Imagemeister,

Well I learned something. For me that is what it is about.
Thank you.
