To one degree or another..the difference in clarity is always there. If you don't do a lot of enlarging or cropping you might get away with it but that's not what I do.

Thanks

Too late. It was a kit so I had to send back the whole kit to get my refund. I may still go with the 5dmkiii..but with different lenses. I like Image Stablization with these sensitive creatures so I have some work to do. In the meantime, I may just give the Nikon d800e a spin with 24-70 or 24-120 f/4g ed with vibration reduction (VR). I really like to have the option to crop up to half the image away if needed and I'd like mitigated chromatic abberation if possible.

David,
I don't know everything about my equipment especially since I just got it...but I don't know nothing...so I'd be interested to hear what you think on this.

Thanks everyone..in one fell swoop I have returned both camera and lens. I did not like the blurriness consistently on the right side of the frame. It seems to point to camera malfunction rather than a bad lens....but not knowing for sure and buying the outfit as a package....seems best to send it home while I still can.....one of the perks of an amazon purchase. So now what??? I'm thinking it might be time to give the Nikon d800e a second look. Not sure which lenses...but certainly a VR zoom like the 24-80 or 24-120. Any suggestions in this regards folks? (Its nice to not feel like I'm alone in my quest!)

David....shutter at 125 in shutter priority. Also shot at 60 with a steadying monopod. Same prob. I checked other shots I took on the same day and they all were inconsistent on the right side. But this one really stands out. The motor on the left was clearly visible...and just a gray blur on the right side. I never saw such a difference in any ofmy old 5d images. What do you suggest I try?

So I went and did it. I've been shooting with my new Canon 5dmkiii with 24-105 zoom lens for a couple of weeks now. I finally uploaded the images tonight and was really excited to see how much more clarity and quality I had purchased compared to my old 5D 107-135 combination. My first image was significantly blurred on the right quarter of the image. Hard to tell until I enlarged it. Great on the left side - totally unacceptable on the left... its a big file - hope it loads on here so anyone can comment after comparing right and left sides. It could be the lens but I bought it as a kit so the kit goes back to Amazon.

Any thoughts, boys and girls?

J

Hi Fred...I think we all have our creative ups and down. Sometimes I go for months...but eventually get sparked by events or environments and shoot my best stuff!! Here are my suggestions:

1. While your waiting for your mojo to come back home..take out that new Nikon and spend a couple of days shooting anything anywhere to research the ins and outs of your new equipment.
2. Go to new and visually unusual places and just let your mind fog over...just walk around and let the images present themselves. Take the shot even if you think it won't be great. Grease the wheels.
3. Find a good backdrop for your picture.. Then just sit and wait for your subject or circumstance to move into it. No pressure, just zone out and wait.

It's happened several times for me that I have taken some of my best shots directly after a knock down drag out argument with my lovely wife. I wind up walking out of the house and driving to a nearby lake or park or street corner and magically find great shots. Maybe the emotional upheaval breaks me free of the funk that holds captive my creative eye. Anyway...good luck and remember All Things Must Pass.

Wow....they're great....that first one is something to behold. will you show them? If so, how? I see them huge on an exhibition wall. I'm planning a trip to Blackpool because I like the odd and the curious...I may jump over to Liverpool after seeing your shots. Maybe pay my respects to the lads while i'm at it.

ok folks...I have gone right off the idea of adapting my old tamron to my new camera. It was nice to hear from you all on my oddball question and I won't promise there won't be others...it seems I am not the only wonderer with whacky ideas in this forum and that suits me just fine. Thanks to all.

Very cool. The hang glider trike version looks cool too. Are they easily flown? What kind of training would one need?

Dirtpusher...this is unrelated to your post but your pic caught my eye. Do you fly that thing? Is it a hang glider wing or paraglide canopy? Have you seen the hang glider type trikes?
