Consider the PacSafe models. They are a bit stiffer than your usual strap but they are designed to be slash-proof, they have thin steel wires meshed inside. I feel very safe with mine on D810 and Sony RX10.

2 like new SanDisk 128G SDXC cards and a Bower rubberized carry case for multiple card formats, with or without their cases. Cards were originally formatted for Sony mirrorless but can be re-formatted again for any camera type.

Was in Dresden, Germany in September. Connected to our town center hotel was a vintage camera shop promising best prices to buy and sell used equipment. Lots of old 35mm bodies and lenses, inc. Praktika which was my first film SLR. Big emphasis on DDR-era cameras, as well as vintage watches and porcelain. The old view camera was in the hotel lobby. The hedgehog made of straw was in front of a vendor booth in their town square Fall Festival celebration. Actually saw many camera stores in Germany, Ireland, and Scotland. Sadly they are a rarity now in the US.

If one goes with a new computer such as this MSI, can I re-install the original HD and/or SSD into the new machine while still keeping the new components? Wondering if this would avoid needing to reinstall all the programs I already have, and then just adding new data to the new HD or SSD. My current HD is >90% full, so I've been using an external drive to hold photos. Thanks for advice!

Gaming COMPUTER, yes, but gaming MONITOR, no. If you intend to post-process images and print them, you need a wide-gamut monitor, preferably one with 10-bit color and at least a 99% P3 color gamut capability. Cheap monitors and gaming monitors are generally inaccurate and very frustrating for photo editing tasks.

I recommend the LG 27UP850-W 27” UHD (3840 x 2160) IPS Monitor as a reasonable candidate. It is the one I use. It is a close match to the internal displays of Apple MacBooks.

BenQ also makes some excellent photo/graphics editing monitors.

I use and recommend the Datacolor SpyderXElite calibration and ICC profiling kit to keep your monitor honest and in sync with printers and labs.

Thanks -- maybe they will go on sale too! Actually a 24inch would fit my desk better.

That's like buying a pro body camera and still using your entry-level kit lens .... You could probably drop a terabyte of storage and find the funds for a monitor upgrade too in that bundle.

The harder things about shopping for a monitor are: a, making sure you get one that fits, not exceeds, the intended space on your desk / work area. Then b, finding a model that is great for photography, rather than gaming or TV watching. You probably should shop separately for the monitor, and not at Costco for this more specialized equipment.

Edited.... I misread and thought you were asking about gaming laptops. Most of my reply doesn't apply. This part does.

Costco is a great place to buy electronics. They have a 90 day satisfaction guarantee. My wife bought a Surface laptop, found she didn't like it and 45 days later got all her money back. Costco is also a great place to buy chickens. Go figure!

Thanks for your input!
