Don't blame it on the phone for your lost of business but rather the social media. If there is no social media people still go to your lab anh have prints made although it's a different kind of prints. But the social media made prints obsolete kind of.

Appraisers, adjusters, inspectors and the like all used print film for their job. When digital came along, there was no need for film and film processing, and the photo store. It had nothing to do with social media, and in fact, the transition from film to digital was prior to social media. I was a real estate appraiser for 35 years and this was the process, and it was not driven by social media, but rather by industry demand driven by technology,

I remember many of us ,including myself who has traveled Scotland and Ireland many times, warned you you would want wider than just 24mm .You didn't believe us. LOL

Glad you had a good trip, please share some photos, OK.

I created a prior post before the trip, and the consensus was that the 24x120 would be more than adequate for Ireland and Scotland, and for 90% of the shots it was. It's the other 10% where the 16x35 would have been preferable.

So, Yes, I would be interested in a travel section. If someone had told me the specific locations in Ireland and Scotland where I would need a lens wider than the 24x120 recommended, I would have taken my 16x35 for the Highlands, interior of castles, churches, libraries (Trinity College & Book of Kells) I would have taken it. As a result, my 24x120 wasn't wide enough to capture what my eyes were seeing. A travel section might have convinced me, with specifics, to take the wider lens in addition to the 24x120.

I have run Lr 6.14 on W10 and am currently running it on W11 with no problems. It will help if you have sufficient RAM (16GB min).

Thanks for the recomendation.I will act on it. By the way, my son and I toured Scotland on the second week of May of this year, 2022. Had a great time, beautiful country, loved the Highlands and Castles, and of course Edinburgh.

It is probably dumb of me to suggest it, but with so much added to Lightroom since 6.14, you should consider a gift to yourself.

I am opposed to reoccurring bills that I have control over. Adobe's marketing people figured out how to maximize profits with LR and PS with a subscription...but I'm not interested. There is always, and there always will be, something bigger, better, faster, than what I own...be it a computer, golf clubs, vehicle, or girlfriend. Thanks for the suggestion though. John

Thanks to all who responded...this helps. I will get assurances from my local computer repair/upgrade store that all will be well with an upgrade to W10 that is reported to works with my LR6.14, or a higher upgrade if assurances are there. Thanks again for your help. John

LR is 6.14 rather than the 6.12 I reported...or as the young people say "I bad"

Well, I am operating my Lightroom 6.12 on my trusty Windows 7 system...but I need to upgrade. My concern is for the upgrade not to create problems for LR, or for that matter, other older programs. So, any advise on what to get or what not to get. Thanks

How many critical pictures were missed between 16-24mm using your lens at 24mm??

Inside churches and castles, street scenes, wider view of Wicklow mountain, interior of library at Trinity College, just to mention a few.

Returned from two week trip to Ireland and Scotland with my Nikon 850 and 24-120 lens. Left my 16-35 at home and should have brought it. Was concerned with extra weight. Photo coverage was adequate with the 24-120, but could have been lots better with the wide angle 16-35. Next trip I will take both and just deal with the weight and lens change. Great trip with my adult son. Lots of photo ops everywhere.

You can get a "rider" from your home owners insurance company and schedule your equipment for specific coverage from theft, loss, or damage. I have my coverage with Auto Owners Insurance Company (home owners policy). Have had it for many years.

A company called Breakthrough Photography has magnetic holders for ND filters and others. They were developing a polarizer system a few years ago, but I never followed up. There system is expensive but very professionally made and support is excellent. Might try them direct. Breakthrough Photography. com

I have 98 photos in my Previous Import file. I am trying to create a collection but only 1 photo appears in the new collection. So, I am missing a step to access all 98 photos. Can't find solution in my prior notes. Did it before, but can't remember how I did it. Thanks for your help...hell to get old. Indiana
