How did this thread go so downhill?
I recall buying my first 35mm camera at the PX in LA area. The next one was purchased a couple years later in Yokuska(sp?). I looked there for lenses also. The first camera came with a 50mm lens and the second had a 55mm. To me, these were "standard." I read that a lens wider than 24mm would give a distorted image at the edges. So, I purchased a 24mm lens and a zoom from 80 to 205mm. I really enjoyed those two cameras and took a ton of photos that are all packed away.
Thank-you for sharing the link. There are some great tips here - some that most of us knew already, but it is good to be reminded.
Yes, I saw it and commented there after you did. Thanks for the referral.
Thank-you! Douglass, I posted the photo on the site you suggested.
Good morning, Douglass. I've not used PhotoShop or anything else. I guess it would improve the picture, but the owl was just lifting off from the metal piece that held the barbed wire. I'll take your suggestion and see how it looks. Thanks!
Somebody suggested I share a few of my photos. These were taken recently in Maine. The first was at Fields Pond Audubon Center near Brewer. The bald eagle was near West Quoddy Head which is at the eastern-most point in the U.S. The snowy owl was at the Trenton Airport. (I added the fourth photo well after writing the title "Three . . .")

I've been seeking out bald eagles for the past few months. Finally able to get some immature ones flying overhead. Envious of your great photo! (BTW your photos show up in "Photography Forum -> Photo Gallery" which I thought appropriate. I could be wrong.)
:-) Thank-you, nafplyr and sailorsmom. Yes, I hope we have spring . . . soon! I've told people that its always warm on my birthday. It's in August. ;-) Sailorsmom - I've had few people tell me I should write a children's book with my photos. I've told them, "You want to be my publisher?"
Thank-you, all. I'm glad you enjoyed them. Linda, they say you can take the woman out of Maine, but not Maine out of the woman. Lenf, my sister and family lived in Gap for a time about 45-50 years ago. They made a lot of friends among the Amish.
I was extremely lucky to capture these photos. Serendipity, I think.
Oh, oh. Is that a drop of water I see?
Ugh!
I think I am wet.
The photo I'm seeing seems to have a halo around the bird. I tend to get this when I use too much highlight.
Very nice photos! Thanks for posting the settings also as I've been trying to get sparrows and chickadees in flight. Not easy. I've been able to get decent photos of osprey though as they're more like a B-52 rather than a fighter jet. :-)
