Beautiful! Stand in awe of your sketch series. Totally unique. Thanks again for sharing your excellent work, Bob. Please let me know if you ever decide to do a book of these cause I want one.

You can get a ML-L3 knockoff at Ebay for $1. I bought a couple, works fine. This is practically free so I would recommend you try it.

Thanks, JPL. Will do. Appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks, Jerry. Want to try on my 5100. Have a cheap wireless one now which goes thru batteries quickly. And I wanted a backup. Tried a wired one and it was really hit and miss so I returned it. Going to try this before spending more and trying another wired/wireless version.

I have the D5500 and use the wireless remote or the Wireless Mobile Utility on my iPhone. The D5500 has an IR receiver on both the front and rear of the camera, as does the D5300.

Spider223,
What is the name of the Wireless Mobile Utility you use on your iPhone? Did you find it on the Apple App Store or elsewhere?
Thanks,

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I feel much better considering a purchase based on your experiences. Newegg prices on many of the refurbished Apple computers are much lower then other sources. And some so much lower that they sounded too good to be true. Your feedback gives me enough confidence to move forward if I find the right product-price combination. This is another huge benefit of UHH. And I will be sure to let you know my experiences if/when I buy. Thank you.

Anyone had recent experience with Newegg? They have some refurbished Apple computers at cheap prices. Some too cheap. Don't know anyone who has purchased anything from Newegg. And don't want to waste my money. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Only one (Bogan 3021) but as I get older (70 next month) it seems to grow heavier and bigger. Want something lighter and smaller that works as well but don't use enough to justify big expense. Traveled to Alaska last year and left tripod at home because wouldn't fit in luggage and I missed Northern Lights photos as a result. Won't let that happen again, even if my only option is the big/heavy Bogan 3021.

That's part of my problem. I figure I'll need them sometime in the future, so I don't dare get rid of anything. Actually, I'm probably way down on the low end of tripod ownership in UHH. I have one I got with blue stamps - or maybe it green stamps - back in about 1958. I keep that for sentimental reasons. I have a big sturdy one I "inherited" when my uncle passed away. Aside from those, I have only four, including the big Vanguard and the small MeFoto. I'm sure UHH members have many more. Of course I have an assortment of those little desktop tripods that we all accumulate. Oh, I forgot about my three GorillaPods.
That's part of my problem. I figure I'll need the... (show quote)

Hi Jerry,
Sounds like you need to start thinking about an inventory for your tripods. And if this is any indication, you've got to have a house full of cameras, light meters, lenses, backdrops, post processing programs, filters, lighting stands and lighting, etc.

I have too many tripods, including a big and heavy Vanguard Tracker 4. I have a MeFoto that collapses to a little over 12", so I won't be getting this new Vanguard.

Hi Jerry,
The way this started out your message, I was all ready for your wanting to sell one of your too many tripods. Which MeFoto do you have and what do you think?

No experience, but here are some comparisons.

Thanks, Jerry. If I get one, it will probably be the 235. Just wondering if anyone owned or had used any of these aluminum Vanguard models and could speak to the experience compared to other comparably priced tripods. I currently have a Bogan 3021, but it's heavy and won't fit in luggage for trips. The weight and fold up size of the 235ab were key attractors for me.

Does anyone have any experience with this tripod? or with 265ab or 263ab versions which are more expensive?

If it were me, I would get my refund and walk away. I'm sorry you have had such a frustrating experience. Mine has been just the opposite. The program is terrific and improving with each new release. I believe it's going to give me a viable and easy to use alternative to Adobe (yea). Let me know if you want the email I got from on1 so you can reply via that route. So you know, at the same time I sent my request for help on your behalf via the on1 website, I also posted the same on the on1 Facebook and Twitter pages. Don't know if you will hear anything via these channels, but just in case you do this is why.
