I love the softness to the photo, it gives it almost the illusion this photo was taken in a different time with a film camera.
there is just something about this photo that just doesnt seem right, I dont know if its the lighting or the pose but her head doesnt really seem to go with her body. Her face almost seems to be more painting like while her body looks like a photograph. I am no expert on studio photography, but something just doesnt feel right with this photo.
Wonderful camera, I have one and it is a very versital camera.
You will enjoy this camera.
I am generally a huge fan of black and white but the color in this case has a huge impact.

When some one says I'm a pro and you are not, Think to yourself " you are an a$$hole and I am not."
Love it, I will have yo remember that.
Okay, some of you have taken this a little out of proportion. I do not like to see other treated like crap, and that was really the basis of this post. I saw someone else not being treated very respectfully, and this other photographer acted as if he was better than this woman who told him that she too was a photographer. This is not the first time I have seen this happen nor I know it will not be the last. I know who I am and I am very happy as to where I stand in the photography world. I am a amature photographer and I am happy about that status.

Don't be so sensitive. Just be what you are and be happy with it.
It wasnt about me, I am very sensitive to how people treat others and he was not so nice to someone else that is a photographer.

S, what does being a pro photog even mean? Yes, it's been discussed here many times, and the pros seem to come out of the wood work.
Why won't they ever show you a photo?
Untill I can taste their pudding and see how they walk, I discount anybody that tells me they are pros. I very, very, very rarely run into one.
Having a camera in your hand and talking loud doesn't make them pros.
Ask instead to see their portfolio.
A pro NOT carrying their portfolio won't find work. And it had better impress you!
We all have to learn to walk.

I am not a pro but I carry a portfolio, either a phyical one or one the one I keep on my kindel fire.
Sharp Shooter I always enjoy hearing what you have to say, you are always very insightful.

These are insightful comments and I agree with them all. What I'd like to her are comments from some pros. Many here (Like Captain C and many others) are pretty supportive of and helpful to hobbyists, so I think us "non-pros" might have a pretty good home here.
I have found here that most of the pros that fequent here are pretty nice, but out in the world I have found way more that are not, I have met some pretty rude and full of them photographers. I mean I get that you know that you are good, but come on.

I know a lot of professional photographers. I have never heard a pro say anything untoward to me or any other amateur. As a matter of fact, all the pros I know have been extremely understanding, helpful and kind. You must have run across a normal run-of-the-mill jerk who would say anything to anyone to make him/herself feel better about not being a better photographer.
The sad part is that I know this gentleman and his wife, I meet them before they where professionals and over time it has gone to his head, he also always seems to be complaining about never getting days off.
Thank you, for the comment. It was just one of those comments that kind of put me in a mood, thank you for putting me in a better frame of mind, I needed it. I am going out and shooting a small wedding later on this afternoon.
As an amature photographer, sometimes I feel like I am looked down upon by "pro" photographers just because I have yet taken the leap to try and make photography my career. I love taking photos and I fear that if I make it my job that I will no longer enjoy doing it. I dont think that you have to make money to be a photographer, photography is a hobby that many people enjoy. Yes I have displayed in art galleries and yes I have on occasion done shoots for money but I still dont consider myself pro, but I do consider myself a photographer. One photographer I know(yes it is his job) said something today that kind of bothered me.He didnt say it directly to me but about a fellow photographer that he met. He knew nothing about this woman, just that in hi words, she claimed to be a photographer. How can someone judge another person with even seeing their body of work or knowing next to nothing about them.
Okay I will step off my soap box now.
I use a optec system, so I can go from my sling strap to my hand strap very easily, when I am out and about I use my sling strap, but if I am doing alot of handheld I use my wrist strap. Optec systems are great.
I have decided to start writing my kids a books, but instead of illistrations, I have decided to use my toy photography as the pictures in the book. I have 8 pages written but I have only taken the photo for the first page of the book. I thought I would share, I am not sure that I want to use the comic book effect yet along with the minor desaturation, but whatever I do all the pages will be the same.

Nothing wrong with your 18-55 mm lens. You will not need a faster lens because to get everyone sharp your will need to shoot at f/5.6 to f/8. My question is are you going to have enough light? If it is outdoor you will be OK. Indoors you will want to make sure your flash is strong enough to do the job. - Dave
It will be outdoors so that is a plus. I was considering going with my 18-55. I was on the right track with that. I can also add a bit of evelivation to the miss as well. I can place the group at the bottom of the hill while I can be at the top.
Thank you everyone for the good advice.
