My father who worked for the RR from age 16, starting in 1919 as a Station Boy, became a Railway Telegrapher, then as Dispatcher for the very busy Industrial Area, Detroit to Saginaw Michigan, until his retirement. He took me to a crossing when the last Steamer passed by telling me it was the end of an era all will be Diesel/Electric after that steam engine was retired.
Your photo would have been loved by him and I would have had a large print made for him.
