Here is a place to go for starters. http://www.photography101.org/basics/camera_settings_explained.html

You need to learn what all the settings are for so you know when to use them. That takes some time to learn, so search google and YouTube to find them. I found it easier to learn each setting at a time, and then go on from there. Keep practicing and you will get there.

This is cute!! I just finished two weddings. In the first one, the bridesmaids and flower girl and ring bearer all walked down the isle in their bare feet!! In the second wedding, they were so enthused about having enough photos, that they super posed for their shots. That made my job easy. Had a good time at both weddings.

Just love shooting photographs of anything. I like catching the unusual moments in our lives to be remembered by the whole family and all my friends. I do landscapes, nature and unusual, beautiful sites. I have been reading the topics for the last few days and there is so much information there. I am looking forward to meeting all of you!!

The best group shots I have ever done was on steps. I did a wedding and was taking family shots after the ceremony. At the front of the church were a set of three steps. Start placing them on different steps. Everyone's face is showing then. I also get them closer together by placing one shoulder in front of the person beside them and have then scoot in closer. That way they don't look crowded, and they are closer. Have the people with glasses tip their heads down just a tiny bit, not much. That way there is less glare on the glasses.

I learned it one step at a time. When I got the camera I set it to automatic. Later I worked with the aperture setting. After I learned that I went to shutter speed. Then I started working on Manual. I usually shoot in manual now, but go back to the other settings when the shutter speed is most important or the aperture is most important. If there is action in the shot and I want to freeze it, I go to shutter speed, if depth of field is more important, I go to aperture settings. Night shots I do in manual. I don't know if this is right for everyone, but it works for me.
