This little girl is doing her own laundry (note the small pieces of soap on the step). She is a Chachi child on the Rio Cayapas in northwestern Ecuador.

This was taken with a borrowed camera that I really didn't like and I had no idea how to control anything! This is a 4x6 crop of the original 10x capture. Ran it through LR3 for clarity, upped the blacks a bit and recovered detail in the water a bit.

I loved the fact that she was all alone by the big river with nothing around except herself. That's sort of the way life is in that part of the world.

I had a bit of a look at christofras' profile out of curiousity, trying to find any redeeming quality which may be evident there.

I concluded the number simply by counting the posts containing "winterrose" or "W/R", I did not have to read them because it soon became evident that this person is a classic troll.

You cannot possibly reason that his posts are anything more than infantile rubbish with an intent only of disruption and belittlement.

Your continued support for his graffiti only serves to perceive you as sliding inexorably down to his level.

A couple of strawmen creeping into the discussion here.
The original statement was - that virtually all SOC images can be improved with PP.
The original statement is correct.

What wasn't claimed,
it wasn't claimed that their aren't good SOC images,
it wasn't claimed that all PP work was good (and that is very evident in this thread, there is some horrible PP in this thread).

Do not forget monitor calibration, without that, everything else is futile!
There are some very good photogs doing very good SOC work in the world. (Not very many of them are on UHH.)
But they could not do that in all conditions. They are good photogs because they know when they can do it and they know when they can't. They know which compromises to make and how to make them.

But, the following listed items are PP work - dust spot removal, cropping, sharpening, white balance adjustment and any other changes you make in your editing program.etc etc

Hello Clyde, if you have had any experience with Forums at all you would know that each and every one of them has its own resident pest. They are typically lacking in both intelligence and proper education and on history provide nothing of any value to the Forum. I am not referring even to people who respond to opinions or statements of fact that may not be welcomed by them by becoming personal and taking the discussion away from the topic, no I mean real pests who are true trolls and who, in the real world would be prosecuted for stalking. This christofras character is one of these. In the fourteen or so months that he has been a member here he has posted approximately one hundred and fifty replies but not a single thread. No articles, not even one photograph, nothing to indicate that he has anything to offer the UHH other than his nuisance value. Of the one hundred and fifty posts, I counted more than one hundred which were directed solely to try to antagonize me personally. Please don't let this idiot put you off though, he's harmless and no-one takes him to be any more than just the pest that he is. I like toying with him though, he is such a Bogan.
