I am retired and I do nature and wildlife photography. I might sell an owl photo or a deer photo now and then, however, I started to write article about my subjects and made some extra cash from those. I kept doing photography after retirement as a way to stay busy. I have friends who shoot wildlife and put together cards, prints and other creative things and sell them at shows.
I sold all my other canon cameras and lens and bought a P1000, I have had it for two years and use it everyday. first it is not a low light camera, I found you can get a low light photo is with a tripod or something like a bean bag in your window for support and select scene. night landscape. I use it in P mode, I set the ISO to 100-400 setting and shoot. Second it not a Birds in flight camera, I have gotten a few very few good shots of birds in flight, I did manage to get a decent brown Pelican the other day, I selected the S mode, still 100-400, turned the shutter speed up to 1250, and shot the pelican at close range where I did not have much lens out. third, the camera cannot be handheld and max zoom there is no way, you must use a tripod, or some other support, I use my car as a blind where every I can and used a bean bag support in the window. I snuggle the camera right down into the bag and shoot away even at max zoom, however at max zoom you rarely get a contest winner, but the photos are good enough to share with your friends. I am bound and determined to make this camera work for me and get decent photos that Adobe stock will accept. so far I have gotten a number approve and have sold some. So keep practicing with it and know the limitations, I have not even come close to proving it out. I have photos posted on this site I will post he link.
