I think you're all sadly confused......shutter lag is as prevalent as it ever was......we just don't notice it as much because we're getting older and slower ourselves.....or at least that's what my kids keep telling me.

hahahahaha

I was talking with a friend yesterday-- an outstanding bird photographer-- and found out that he is a "purist". He doesn't believe in photo editing. His attitude is that "I'm an excellent photographer with excellent equipment, and I know how to use it. If I can't get the photograph right with my camera, I should look for another hobby. I don't believe in computer editing." What do the rest of you excellent photographers think?

what is his success rate ?
ie everyshot or 1 in 500

Cakey give me a day or two to sort lay them out, as I normally don't worry about schematics, I just layout the boards.I am not familiar with that valve, but make sure whether it is a gravity fed or pressure fed, no need for a syphon if it is gravity fed. Ernie

Ok, here it is. Ernie

brilliant thanks Ernie

Yes , I have done this, in fact I still do, though I no longer use the arduino, I use Camera Axe, and at 180$US it's good value for the money, and you can do far more than just water drops. Do you make circuit boards, if so I can give you the appropriate circuit diagrams. And one point I notice in the article you linked too. You do not have to use the shako valve any air, water, oil valve will work Fine. Ernie

hi erniehatt
yes I am able to make my own pcb so I would love the circuit diagrams please .
Ive already sourced the valves ,Im using 12volt Chukas which are working brilliantly with the Arduino which I program to drip at one pec second for testing purposes.
my next job is to build a syphon bottle which apparently keeps the pressure constant at the valve at any level in the bottle.
thanks for looking and all your helps

I've been looking into the camera axe, but there is a bit of cash involved. I've managed to get some collisions without any timers, but it takes a lot of time (and maybe a 6-pack).

they are brilliant ,thanks for showing

I did some drop photos along with some breaking glass, BBs shot into light bulbs, etc.
I was using an older slower microprocessor (basic stamp) and had some good results. The Arduino should do a great job as its much faster. Check out a site called Instructables and look under the photography section. There are several articles on camera triggers.

Interesting. Thanks!

Site is: www.instructables.com
Search for "high speed photography" in upper RH corner of main page.
