Thank you.
Only the last 2 added were cropped versions of the first 2 in the lineup. The rest are uncropped original closeups.

Nice shots. I want either the Tamron or the new Sigma 150-600. Will see how the test results come out on the Sigma(s), probably the lesser of the two if I go for Sigma, 1999 for the "Sport" version is a little much.

Thank you and good luck with whichever lens you choose. I'm sure you will be happy with either one.

Nice set of pictures. I was looking up pictures by people I remembered used the Tamron 150-600 and found this thread.
Actually I don't think that hawk is a baby. I think it is what most call a Sparrow Hawk. A member of a group of small hawk species that hunt mice and small birds like sparrows. Had one hang around a house I used to own in the San Gabriel Valley. Looked like a pigeon that pumped iron and had an attitude. Hunted the small birds in the area. Often found wings and feathers in my drive or back yard. Used to sit on the power line and give me a piece of his mind when I was in the yard and scaring off his potential meals.
Nice set of pictures. I was looking up pictures b... (show quote)

I think it is a baby red tailed hawk, Iowa has them all over, hence the Hawkeye state. I saw the adult fly over the last few years. Thanks for your kind comments and looking!

Very nice. Don't be afraid to crop way in, especially on the first and second image. I'm afraid to do it less I get reamed by admin for messing with other members images.

I don't like to crop much or PP, I like to try and get good shots without changing them. Thanks for looking.

At first I was unimpressed, thinking you had used a tripod. Then I realized you didn't. The finches on the feeder is darn good for a hand held shot at 600mm, IMO. In fact, I think they are all good, for those conditions. What was the distance to the subjects? It would be interesting to compare those same shots taken with a tripod and shutter remote.
The pictures with flowers around 15 feet and the birds from 30-40 feet.

The 150-600 has a lens tripod mount so it is balanced on the tripod. Here are some handheld shots. All taken at 600 mm.
