These are so good, how close were you and if you don't mind my asking what lens were you using?

The distance generally was 30 - 100 yards - although some times closer. Most of the photos were captured with Nikon's 500mm f/4.

I just got home from vacation about an hour ago and this shot jumped out at me as I was downloading. As I am looking at it right now I don't think I want to touch it with any editing, pretty happy with it straight out of the camera.

Great capture - nicely done.

I'll bet he was as I think it was a 500mm/f4 prime.

Yes - it was a 500mm prime.

Ah come on. You didn't really shoot these did you? I've seen these or ones like these done by professional photographers in NG and on covers of wildlife magazines. On second thought and another look I think these are better, so maybe you did shoot them. I'm just envious because I didn't shoot them. You have some great wall hangers there. One day I may have the chance to try that area out. Great shooting, hope there was someone else that was also able to shoot and not necessarily with a camera if need be...Ron

Thank you for the nice comments. There is a guide who accompanies the group and brings a gun.

Must have been a really grand trip. How long of a lens did you use?

The most and longest lens used on the trip was a Nikon 500mm f4. Great wildlife lens, good reach with less weight than the 400mm & 600mm lens. It will be interesting to see how Nikon's new FL lens perform.
