Beautiful pictures! I agree with you: Everyone should visit Teton NP. When I was 17 yrs old I worked at Flagg Ranch in the summer of 1957. On my days off I would go on an all day hike back through the wilderness areas by myself, which in retrospect was not too smart. I would leave about 6:00am and usually get back by 6:00 or 7:00pm. I only got lost once when I had to take a wide detour to avoid a Grizzly bear, but I did get back about 10:00pm. My wife and I have visited Teton NP and Yellowstone NP four times since and that is when I took pictures of the area. The history of that area is fascinating to read.

Good picture of the B-25. Many of those planes/engines were produced and/or tested at the Fairfax airport in Kansas City, Kansas during the war. North American Aviation was located there. Location was on Goose Island where the Kansas River flows into the Missouri River. On hot summer nights my brother and I would crawl out our upstairs bedroom window and sit on a lower level roof. We had no air conditioning back in those days and there was usually a cooler breeze blowing across the roof. We would sit and listen to the B-25 airplane engines being tested. They were really loud, no mufflers. It was so quiet at night we could hear the engines from six miles away.

I’m looking at Nikon’s AF-S TC-20E III teleconverter. Will use it on their AF-S 70-200 f2.8 lens. Anybody use a teleconverter? Any downside to them? I know I’ll use a couple stops. Will be in Wyoming and Yellowstone photographing wildlife.

I use a Canon 70D and have had good results using a Canon EF 2X III teleconverter with my Canon EF 100-400mm, Cannon EF 400mm prime and my Canon 70-200mm. Manual focus is required on my 100-400 and 400 prime lens with the 2X, but if I am focused and steadfast or with a monopod/tripod I can get good images (grizzly, elk, moose) at 800mm up to 3 to 4 tenths of a mile (500' to 2000' and with good light). Using the 70-200 f 2.8 lens with the 2X I still have automatic focus which is great for fast moving targets (400MM). This is just meant to be some info from my extensive use of one brand of camera equipment. Some of the other replies to your question have some real good info. Have fun in YNP.

Leave on a two week vacation to Alaska on Tuesday. So,.....packing.

Want to stay as light as possible and have been thinking my best lens options for use on the D7200 will be my Sigma 17-70, 1.9-2.4 and my Nikkor 70-300, 4.5-6.3

I haven no greater telephoto. Other lenses are a 105 Macro and my 35mm prime.

My best options??

I think you will be okay with the 17-70 and the 70-300. My wife and I along with two friends took the Alaska vacation a few years back and my camera equipment was a Canon 70D with a 70-200 L: 2.8 IS II USM lens and the Canon 2X III extender and a Canon G 11 back up camera. I got many good pictures with all my set ups and a few to delete. If some one has not already suggested this.....shoot to photo merge some pictures of the mountain ranges and of course other places. Have fun.

Very good detailed pictures. Your pictures show that plane has really been given some TLC.

The Commemorative Air Force is going to have the "Texas Raiders" B-17
visit for three days here in Olathe, KS on May 31st + June 1st & 2nd (at the New Century Air Center). It was built in 1945 at the end of July in Long Beach, California. There were over 12,000 built and now there are fewer than a dozen still flying. The information I have indicates you can go for a B-17 ride for $475.00. This time I think I will stay on the ground and watch it take off and land since I already took a ride in one several years back.

I used my Canon 70-200 L : 2.8 IS II USM with my Canon 2X III Tele extender and got some very clear/sharp pictures on my last trip to Alaska. Some at 400 mm, others at 140 mm and several in between the max and minimum. The weather was good and most all of my pictures using this combination were taken during daylight hours on sunny days. My bad shots were due to my errors and not the fault of this combination of lens.
Also, (In Kansas) I got some good moon pictures using my Canon 400mm prime with the Canon 2X III Tele extender on a tripod. My camera is a Canon 70D.

I think the Canon EF-S 18-135 f/2.5-5.6 IS USM is a good lens choice. However, another lens, Canon EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens is also a good choice for $100.00 more when you are shopping for only a lens. I bought the 18-200mm a few years back and got excellent pictures and the 200mm gives extra telephoto reach over the 18-135mm. However, I have seen some good package deals online with Canon cameras and Canon 18-135 lens in combination. I have not seen similar combination offerings with the 18-200mm. My daughter now has the Canon EF-S 18-200mm along with a camera I gave her for a birthday present and she has taken some excellent daytime pictures of her boys playing football and baseball.

I've searched the Hog and came up empty on this subject.

When traveling between time zones and making photos in each zone, should the time on the camera be left set to the original time zone or changed as you cross time zone boundaries?

What about daylight saving time? Should we leave the camera set to standard time or should it follow DST?

Then there is the Arizona question. Do you follow local time, which is Pacific time during the summer and Mountain time in the winter?

It's all so confusing. I'm leaning toward leaving the camera set to CST all the time.

What do you do and why?

When I went to Alaska I set my camera time to local time so I would know what time of day I took the picture. Sun shining on the mountain tops at midnight, dense cloud cover, fog during morning, afternoon, (time can be confusing if you don't have it recorded), also made notes as to the location... Fairbanks, Skagway, etc., then metadata when downloading pictures to computer gave me the info that I could use if I wanted it. Also helped when putting everything in a slide show so pictures were sequenced to the trip.
Did the same thing traveling Germany, Austria, Italy, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and French Polynesia-the Society Islands.
