so far, I have purchased all my equipment used. I bought my canon rebel from a friend and 2 lens for $400, then i stepped it up and purchased my used canon 50d from Amazon last year for $800, the girl who had it explain that she used it about twice, and it looked brand new, came like it was new, in the box that looked new with the phone book like manuel, and all the goodies. I was one of those people that needed brand new all the time, now in my very budgeted financial situation, I go used and actually have been very pleasantly surprised. I have decided that as long as it hasen't been dropped, and you can tell if there are dropping type damages, typcally, or as along as the item hasent been in water, chances are it will work fine, or can be easily fixed.

theres something about photos of doors, not sure if the picture makes you want to know whats on the other side or if the architecture of the door itself, but truly enjoy photos of doors, good work!

My wife to be took this picture on New Years Day, 1954. This is
from the ROSE BOWL PARADE. Mexico billed itself as the land of
charm. BTW: She was using a BROWNIE camera. Was 12 years
of age. We have some others and will try later in the week.

Pix have been in a folder since 1954. Found them few years back
and placed them in secure location. Enjoy!

Does anyone have pix going back to say the 50-60's?

When we got married I called her "Scooter" & she called me
"Tiger" :lol:

Waited til the last minute and ran out and tried to take pics of lunar eclipse Nikon D3000. Guess I didn't study my Nikon for Dummies enough. Camera would not take a pic no matter what settings I tried and before I could do anything the eclipse was gone. Question what is a good setting to start with when taking pics in very low light situations such as eclipse or fireworks night lightening. This is not address in the Dummies book as far as I can see.

not sure if it was posted, i didnt see it, make sure you have a tripod, if your shooting on a slow speed you will hand shake, the tripod is a most for a clear photo

I shot a picture of the moon at f8/200mm. Now I use the moon shot as an add in to some of my night shots. Adds a little flavor to the scene.

that is a mystical shot!

My worst one, bar none was a vivitar. About 40 years ago, I bought my wife one of those thin little vivitars that produced teensie negatives. I spent $50 because I wanted her to have a good one. The quality of the images was awful. I then bought her a small Olympus for about the same money which was quite good.

I think this is the one i had, your story brought memories, that was a chunk of dough for a camera then!

thats amazing to me that they would be left possibley on purpose. I took all the photos from my auntie mom's when her and my uncle had passed, then I passed out the photos to the person that was in them. Same with my sisters when our mom passed, we're just starting the process of building one of those hardcover books online, each one of us can have a amount of pages(they decided to limit the pages, they know i could fill up 20 in no time) we scan the photos and drop them in. We wouldnt leave them for the world! Its the same when I go to those second hand shops and see a whole family from an era for sale on the wall, if those photos could talk!!

I was a policeman for a lota years and understand your loss. Thor was much more than a pet. He was your partner. He was someone that you could put your life in his hands (paws) and know without a doubt that he before he let you down he would willingly lay down his life. The bond between a trained K-9 and his handler is much, much more than a pet and to find him like you did my heart felt sympathy goes out to you that you will be able to find solace and peace that you two will be together again.
I am so sad
