Nice view. My brother & I took motorcycles from the Town of (I THINK) Front Royal in Va on the Shannondoah to the Blueridge Pkwy & thru NC. Anyway, we were cruising at a pretty good clip, the exhaust bouncing off the mountain walls. I'm sure the police could hear us & were lucky enough that as we came around a bend we could see him coming around one towards us where he just put his hand out palm down, moving it up & down meaning slow your butts down.

You guys got away with one there, Tony. You probably caught a ranger who didn't want to take the time to zap you. As you know, that ride from Front Royal south to the Parkway, via the Skyline Drive, is stunning. If you're ever in that area again, when you leave Front Royal jump over and take that road that goes south through the Shenandoah Valley at ground level. In the Fall, it's spectacular.

That is a beautiful scene. Thanks for posting this one, Tom.

Hi, John.

I'm happy to share this kind of stuff. Most folks will never see the Parkway and that's unfortunate. It's close to a 500 mile ride through some of the most beautiful parts of our country.

Nice image Tom. Like their interpretation of the split-rail fence. Looks like the only thing holding them together is a bit of wiring. It's a real compliment to the composition and makes the picture work. Nice job. Keep a copy with you and you might be able to swap it for a $500 fine.

Hi, Reuss.

I agree with you. The fence is the star of the show. It just keeps going and going...way beyond the scope of this shot. Amazing.

See you.

Very interesting and a rather radical design considering the era. It looks like somebody has done a great job of preserving it. Did you see / hear it running? Thank you Tom for sharing a unique piece of marine history.

Hi, Richard.

It does run. For this show, though, it was set up as a static display so I didn't see or hear it run.

Take care, my friend.

Hey, Mike.

What a great place to do bike riding. It's been quite awhile since I've been up to Hilton Head Island. I used to go up occasionally to play golf at the course where the PGA tournament is held.

In the years past, deep back in the hollows, you could see scads of old abandoned vehicles right beside the roads. Several years back, the State mandated that any such vehicle within 20 feet of the road had to be moved....safety concerns. Somehow, this old truck escaped that edict.

It’s hard to say for sure but that kinda looks like poison ivy on the front corner.

Hey, Bruce.

Thanks for the thumbs up.
