So, maybe the cook ran out of blackbirds to bake for the king? At least the fishies won't start singing?

All in all, it looks a little fishy to me!

Way back when, we have used look-up tables. Only they were more specifically named: multiplication tables, trigonometry tables, log tables. Rather than calculating the square root of 2 (which can be done), we'd look it up and find it was 1.414. Likewise in software, LUTs are used to speed up calculations.

I find the plastic bags good for putting in my waste paper baskets, holding used cat litter and holding other plastic bags.
I'm waiting for the day when someone pulls out a duffel bag for their purchases. Just think of the fun when Security wants to check your bag, and the cans are all randomly mixed!

BTW, is the message on Treasury bills no longer valid? "THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PRIVATE AND PUBLIC"

The headline read: "6 Best Bitter Apple Sprays For Dogs on Amazon" and all I could think was, "What's a dog doing on Amazon? Ordering bones?"

Not a big problem โ€“ as long as you want to go down-creek!

Should we use new or used kitty litter??

Used! It cuts down the number of people asking for a ride! ๐Ÿค” ๐Ÿ™€

So the stove was smart enough to predict the catastrophe and call for pizza, but was incapable of turning off its burners? Lousy design!
(Still, the cartoon was humorous ๐Ÿ˜)

No wonder "Children should be seen and not heard" was popular back then!

I drove a different model truck for a month. The roof over the cab was hinged to help keep the driver cool, there was no driver's side door โ€“ it was solid body, and the passenger side was wide open. The cab floor was bare metal, which let the sunlight bounce into your eyes, and there was a govener on the motor โ€“ there was no way the truck could go over 40 MPH. (And to get to my route I had to drive on a hiway.) Company policy was we sold ice cream and nothing else, so all the kids went for Colonial Maid, Danny Boy, or Mr. Softee with their additional snacks and rewards.
Then I looked at my bank account and realized I was losing money at this job! Bye!

Would these programs run under DOS? If they run under DOS I would want to set the computer up to run DOS.

Yes, but no. ๐Ÿ™‚ The other part of my collection is cross-assemblers, and the multitasking in Windows lets me pop quickly between the code in the editor and the assembler output. And also check the documentation if needed. (No more printed manuals. ๐Ÿ˜•)

Oh myโ€ฆ that is going wwwwwwwaaaaaayyyyy back. In a DOS environment, had to โ€œtypeโ€ a file to the screen, count to which line that needed a change, then use EDLIN to change that lineโ€ฆ then type the file again to see if yo got it changed correctly and look for other needed changes.

While it still seems to be in my memory, it is NOT a fond memory.

No, not at all fond! I think we had A-EDIT on the Intel ISIS-II "Blue Box" at my first tech job. About all I can say nice about line editors is that you made dern sure your code was entered correctly! "ERROR 12 ON LINE 300" will drive anyone nuts!

Although what do you need to run that won't work with Windows XP or Windows 7?

A lot of my "stuff" would run on XP โ€“ my computer at work had XP. When I moved from Long Island to NC 10+ years ago, I needed another computer, so I got this one second hand, and loaded my small collection of programming languages and editors onto it. (Turbo BASIC, anyone? Small C? How about A86? No? I know! You all want Forth 83! ๐Ÿ˜) But a collection is all it is. Kinda like a nerd's equivalent of an old car collection, but a lot cheaper!
