Nice shots! Isn't it great that you don't have to travel miles and miles to get some good, interesting pictures?

Well, up here in Minnesota we don't have to travel to capture images of all the possible shades of gray - from rosy gray to somber gray. Ha, so there.

I couldn't find any indication of pixels.com charging a fee to join or taking a percentage of print sales. If it's free to join and try to sell some prints why not try it?

If your digital image file actually passes into the pixels.com server, does not mean it becomes the property of the server owners. Would lawyers call that 'implied consent.' I would counsel treading carefully with eyes wide open.

The stray reflections from the glass are not immediately apparent, but this image would be a near perfect example of the utiity of a polarizing filter. Of course ibstant solution is not to be expected for polarization quenching has all to do with angles. For example, suppose it is a glass box with the object of interest inside. The polarizing filter might quench the front face but do nothing for the top face and a partial quench on a side face. It would be worth trying just to see if there is any benefit.

Per a last year Wikipda article: The SD card manufacturers that make their own chips are Lexar, Samsung, SanDisk and Toshiba. All the other SD brands package someone else's chips. So PNY SD cards might have chips from multiple sources and performance might vary from card to card depending on chip maker with differing manufacturing standards. To assure card to card uniformity in your kit, it might be a good idea to stick with the aforementioned four.

Of course, you did capture e scene as it was and that tells its own story. Maybe Photoshop can bring out a little more detail in the trees part, but I haven't any idea of the best tool beyond adjusting contrast and brightness on an adjustment layer.

In principle, digital to slide film should be doable (and some have noted work arounds), but owing to a limited market I would guess there would not be device development money to build it. Modern day presenters use Power Point or similar. That technology is well developed. So the fellow is swimming upstream.

I wish my lenses could pick up the detail that is really worth seeing. Sigh.

Definitively the wrong forum to post this.

I do not even know where this would go as this is not your work. General chit-chat?

It is in Chit Chat

A marvelous idea. I suggest you also include lines to compare ratings between Snapsort, DxO, DPP, and any other comparative program. Maybe you could convert each rating to a 10 versus X number by placing the top camera in each comparison at 10 and prorating the other camera. That way a 60 point camera compared to a 54 point camera would be as fairly shown (10-9) as another company rating of the identical cameras as 30 point to 27 points.

Oh, great. You throw out an idea and within moments offers improvements. It is stuff like this that makes the Hog the place to go for help. The Hog is populated by exceptional people.

Hey Bob thanks for taking the time to download and for the fine compliment. I pulled the trigger a little to quickly on that last shot. After I posted it I realized the bracts under the flower have black edges so it's not a thistle, it's a Spotted Knapweed. Have a great day my friend!

I consulted Wikipedia for knapweed and let myself in for an educational experience. The knapweeds are related to thistles.

Other than refusing to charge, is there any other evidence of defects. Such as, like leakage or corrosion. Was is it in the habit of having a short life-time in-camera. I wonder if there is a battery testing results somewhere.

Making the email rounds

One of my fondest memories
As I recall the days of yore
was the little house, behind the house,
With the crescent o'er the door.
'Twas a place to sit and ponder
With your head all bowed down low;
Knowing that you wouldn't be there,
If you didn't have to go.
Ours was a multi-holer, three,
With a size for everyone.
You left there feeling better,
After your job was done.
You had to make those frequent trips
In snow, rain, sleet, or fog--
To that little house where you usually
Found the Eatons catalog.
Oft times in dead of winter,
The seat was spread with snow.
T'was then with much reluctance,
To that little house you'd go.
With a swish you'd clear that wooden seat,
Bend low, with dreadful fear
You'd shut your eyes and grit your teeth
As you settled on your rear.
I recall the day Ol' Granddad,
Who stayed with us one summer,
Made a trip out to that little house
Which proved to be a bummer.
'Twas the same day that my Dad had
Finished painting the kitchen green.
He'd just cleaned up the mess he'd made
With rags and gasoline.
He tossed the rags down in the hole
Went on his usual way
Not knowing that by doing so
He'd eventually rue the day.
Now Granddad had an urgent call,
I never will forget!
This trip he made to the little house
Stays in my memory yet.
He sat down on the wooden seat,
With both feet on the floor.
He filled his pipe and tapped it down
And struck a match on the outhouse door.
He lit the pipe and sure enough,
it soon began to glow.
He slowly raised his rear a bit
And tossed the flaming match below.
The Blast that followed, I am told
Was heard for miles around;
And there was poor ol' Granddad
Sprawled out there on the ground.
The smoldering pipe still in his mouth,
His eyes were shut real tight;
The celebrated three-holer
Was blown clear out of sight.
We asked him what had happened,
What he said I'll ne'er forget.
He said he thought it must have been
The pinto beans he et!
Next day we had a new one
Dad put it up with ease.
But this one had a door sign
that read: No Smoking, Please!
Now that's the story's end my friend,
Of memories long ago,
When we went to the house behind the house,
because we had to go.
For those who never had to trot out in the Cold .....
Just Give Thanks!!!

Not all plates, even those called universal, fit all cameras properly. On some plates those pins are spring loaded. They are designed to keep the camera from twisting loose on the single mounting screw. If that is not the case, and it is doing nothing, you might consider grinding it off.

It turned out that little button was just stuck. I pushed it hard and it gave away. So it seems safe to use. Thanks for the tips and ideas.
