I should warn you that if you decide to download Video Pad they'll do everything they can to get you to buy... but hey, they're in the business to make money.
After a two week trial it'll say your trial is up and on that same menu it'll ask if you want to revert to the basic free
program. When you click yes it'll be operational as a very nice, easy to use edit program.

I'm a new user as well so welcome! I did a career in television news / sports photography and I'm now retired but really enjoy video / still work. I'm just getting started here but having fun with it. Again, welcome!
I recenly came across a free download called Video Pad by
NCH Software. I do lots of video for my church and for other folks, all edited on Video Pad. I do still presentations as well with it. Disolves, wipes and other transitions are easy with it and it burns DVD and plays just fine. You may want to consider it.
NCH also has the full $100 version available.
