I definitely can't say that I would recognize him or his statue, but I was in Gettysburg 10-15 years ago and for some strange reason, remember a statue in the city that was very out of place.
When searching for the statue in Gettysburg, I didn't find it, of course. So now, I'm not sure what statue I saw, but know we never went to Canonsburg.

Thought I had seen it in Gettysburg when I was up there many years ago. Don't know who I saw then.
You might try shooting it also at night. With stars and/or moon light, with/without clouds. A long enough exposure will make it look like day and will add more content with stars in the sky.
