Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be one size fits all. Domestic and International flights can also be different. Check with the airline and hope conditions don't change by the time you fly. Overhead bins are getting more crowded, and luggage up there is being treated more roughly.

The problem is universal. Folks are trying to get everything in an overhead so they don't have to PAY for luggage. Folks will also check there bags just before entering the plane, again, so they don't have to PAY for luggage. Hence the slow loading and unloading of passengers. I say do away with overheads and the only thing you can bring down the ramp way is what can fit under the seat.
I also say, do away with telephone poles (since they mess up my photo's and have to remove them in PP) and man hole covers (pave over them for a smoother, gentler ride.

I know some here have no respect for Tony Northrup but I give him much credit for providing useful information...one has to over look the click bait.

I recently watched a video on YouTube where he talked about a blind test he did with large prints taken with various cameras of different sensor sizes, and independent observers. The gear included iPhone, 24mp, 60mp and 240mp sensors. The 24mp surprised me. Some of you may find it interesting.

Since I was streaming YouTube there is no link but it should not be hard to find.

I commonly print 28X42 with a 24mp.

I was wondering if any one has first hand experience with the Lowepro Flipside 300WII, can this backpack be used as a carry on in airplanes?

It has to be no bigger than allowed carry on baggage. The Airline should publish this information for you on line or you can call them. I do not believe anyone here works for an airline. But I could be mistaken.

I went for a trek through some dense woods this morning and evening. I saw probably a hundred birds. Some were the usual suspects but others were Yankee invaders that I did not recognize. I tried taking pictures with my Nikkor 18 - 300 f/3.5 but because of the low light and maybe my old D40x the pictures below sub par for identifying the birds.

What is the trick for shooting in these low light situations?

Take only pictures,
Leave only footprints

Use a higher ISO and keep your shutter speed at least at 1/500 sec. and shoot at f6.3.
When shooting keep your elbows into your body and keep the camera pressed against your eye and slowly press the shutter as you let out a breath.

Hi!!! I am a hairstylist in the central FL area. I have been using my Sony A6000 for a while with the kit lens. It’s FINALLY time to update that lens but I’m unsure what to buy! You can see what I usually photograph @colorbylacy... usually back of head, side profiles etc etc... I’d say most images are from waist up and rarely on a plain wall. So I’d love so recommendations!!!!

I believe the A6000 is an APS-C camera. So here are some of the lenses to consider. All are sony lenses.
SEL1670Z, and my favorite, SEL18200LE, SELP18200.

In the days of color film and my first SLR, I intuitively shot in good front lighting, tried to expose for the highlights, and used flash when a scene was dark. Didn’t think about it much. Now with DSLR's it seems that the challenge is conquering high contrast or backlit scenes and shooting in the available dark. I think that I will try to go back to the less challenging days of yore. If I can conquer that (again) I will have the skill tools to address those more difficult lighting situations. End of rant.

Can you show any examples to support your rant? Without a more detailed rant, we cannot comment.

So I have been house hunting. The first step is looking at photos of houses online. I saw a couple of houses that looked great and I drove an hour to see them. The reality is the houses suck. I know your job is to create interest in the property, but at what point do you call it photographic malpractice?

Was the real house different than the images on line? If so, how were they different? Were the images doctored in PP? Was the house a different color, where things missing in the real house in comparison to the images on line?
Please answer all of these questions and then WE will decide if it is photographic malpractice. You have supplied NO proof so far of such a charge. Nor have you given any examples.
Are you also trying to impeach someone without the facts?

I have it that way now, which is how I got both of these photos to compare, but I guess I didn't want to waste a ton of space on a memory card for no reason. I am hoping to understand at least if I am doing something wrong or not before I do that. And yes, I do have about 8 SD cards so I would be fine. I guess I am more confused as to why they look awful and how the heck to do anything with them once they are in Lightroom.

Why not ask your professional photographer friend who suggested you shoot in raw the same question you have asked us? Maybe your professional photographer friend can figure it out for you, after all, he/she is the one who recommended you shoot in RAW.
PS. I was a professional photographer and now retired and I do shows and use images that are commonly printed to 20X30 and all my shows feature JPG.

For the costs you state, I would have the body repaired. I would make the same decision even if I were purchasing a new/used body and making this a backup. You will have a second body, and it will be worth something if you want to sell it. I don't think anyone would buy a body with a known bad shutter. I have has shutters replaced by Nikon and I have always been happy. Best of luck.

This is true, and shutter replacements are well worth the cost.

It is gold plated and can replace your spouse. It talks back and gets the last word in also.

I mostly photograph puppies. I guess they are equivalent to wildlife except that while the wild critters try to get away from you, so you have to use teles, puppies get all over you so it is difficult to shoot them at all. They move very fast and most of your shots are losers. All I can say, having used a slew of Nikon DSLRs, and now a pair of Fuji MILCs. that the Fujis work better.

Thanks for that.

I will be attending the Albuquerque balloon festival next weekend and welcome suggestions on shooting it. I will be using a Fuji x-t30 with 18-55 and 55-200 lenses.

Depends. How far away will you be. What do you want to include in the image. Where are the balloons in comparison to where you are standing and the direction of the sun.

knowing this ( I have seen this in articles, before ), does it follow that the 20mp MFT cameras COULD produce a better image than 24mp models ( not withstanding sensors used, etc. ) ?

Generally speaking, Camera's with lower MP are also better in lower light. Example, Nikon D3s is a 12 MP camera and it is renowned for its low light shooting.

The middle section on one of the legs of my Benro carbon fibre tripod has come out completely when you pull that tube to extend it instead of being “locked” when it’s in the maximum out position. There’s a couple of curved white coloured plastic pieces that have also come out of the hollow cylinder. Anyone had that problem and suggestions to fix? Very surprised at this build quality since I thought Benro was super solid. This is only the third time I’ve used the tripod.

Contact them. they will replace for free
