Thanks. Once I went to photograph the eagles I was hooked. Sounds weird for me to say I look forward to winter but I do because that is when they are here.

First picture post here for me. This was taken yesterday and only later did I notice ice on the eagle's talons. Yes it was cold yesterday. I have to see if I am doing this correctly. Hope the photo posts.

I have been reading the posts for about a month now and decided to take the plunge. I got hooked on photography about 15 years ago. My recent photos have been of the eagles near lock and dam 14 in Leclaire, Iowa. I am lucky to live 10 minutes away. Supposedly one of the best places in the world to see eagles up close and actively "fishing". The eagles are here for about 10-12 weeks in the winter. So far it has been a good season. Sometimes they fly by within 20-30 feet of the photographers. I use a Canon 5D Mark 2 with a Canon 100-400 version 2 and at times they come so close I can't get the whole bird in the frame at 250-300 mm. If I figure how to post I will submit some recent photos.
I like most kinds of photography including sports, landscape, portraits, and especially shooting my 5 grandchildren.
