Just a few of the many I shot last Oct. over the four day fleet week event

I shot from the roof of the apartment building in which I live,
from the end of a pier at Fort Mason right on the bay, and also
from a vista at the Golden Gate Bridge.

I posted this the other day and it was only on a short while because admin deleted it-- evidently I had downloaded duplicates
inadvertently.

Here it is again:

I am a rather new member and these are the first of my images I have chosen post. They go along with a subject that was posted a few days ago --- birds in flight.

I intend to add a bio in the new member section in the near future.

These images were captured using either my Canon EOS 50D
or Canon EOS 5D MkII.

Canon EOS 5D MkII, lens Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5 - 5.6L IS USM, manual mode ISO 800, 1/2000sec at f/8.0 at focal length of 260mm

Canon EOS 50D,lens Canon EF24-105mm f4.0L IS USM, manual mode 1/320sec f8.0 focal length 65mm

Canon EOS 50Dlens Canon EF24-105mm f4.0L IS USM, manual mode ISO 100 1/800sec f/4.0 focal length 24mm

Here is your image re-worked in Lightroom.

Looking at the histogram I thought it was slightly under-exposed.

I have a canon EOS 50D and a 5D MKII, both cameras have the lens micro adjustment feature to correct backfocus or frontfocus problems with your lens.

It also has another function to correct focus if the particular camera has problems with autofocus of all your lenses.

The functions are found in the custom function menu, the orange colored one with the camera icon, and the settings are found under the C. Fn III: Autofocus/Drive sub-menu.

Once you have navigated to that, at the bottom of the panel are a set of numbers 1-8 and under those numbers are other numbers indicating the current setting of the Custom Function.

The custom function for fine tuning you lens(es) is:
C. Fn III-08.

A good tutorial on frontfocus/backfocus issues can be found
on the Adorama photosupply site in this video:

Hope this helps.

If you need more info a Google search will
bring up a lot of stuff on the issue. Also the archives of some of the digital photo magazines have a wealth of information on the subject.
