Apps and photos reside on your computer, I believe you have a certain amount of time to work 'off line' until you have to validate your registration...please correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks and appreciate the comments Susan. Maybe I should have said it differently rather than using the word "Pushing"....they keep 'inviting' me to join the Cloud since LR6 is/will be their last Stand Alone pgm and no longer supported. I understand its Adobe's choice to move to a different business model where there is a continual revenue stream, afterall its all about profits in the end. And I understand the 'CC' is only the access point for their software, pics still stay with the owner. And YES, I understand that CC can run w/out the Net for a period of time (license validation) since the Apps are residing on the hard drive. I'm personally not willing to go to a totally 'net' provided subscription service while there's absolutely no guarantee Adobe will not continue their price increases, two in as many years worldwide and those invested are potentially held hostage to increases...again nickel and dimed to death, IMHO. That maybe a trivial point to some but not me personally. Many like the 'new' Adobe model, many don't....many are staying and many aren't. As I have previously stated, use any program that meets the requirements of the user and since there are many out there to chose from that meets mine or other users requirements, its called choices....Different strokes for different folks depending on your needs....top of the day to you Susan

A less expensive wide-angle option than the Sony 10-18mm for the A6300 is the Rokinon 12mm F2.0 NCS CS Ultra Wide Angle Lens Sony E-Mount, its totally manual, excellent quality that produces really high quality results...use it and love it. ~$350 range but can be purchased for less on eBay

Moving away from LR since I'm not one who wants to be tied the Cloud and more subscription fees. I'm now using Capture One Pro (Sony) since I have Sony equipment...its intuitive, many similarities to LR and has lots of free tutorials available as needed. ON1 looks like an excellent system and it was my secondary choice, went with Capture One, meets my requirements, very satisfied. 🙂🙂

ON1? $99 for a full blown, complete system with tutorials and the first upgrade, seems like a no brainer

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it." Best quote to live by. If the equipment you have is producing the product you are happy with, keep it, if not, replace it.

👍👍👍 best words ever to live buy

ON1? Read the reviews, read the specs, does it work for your requirements? ON1 looks like it has a lot of great options and....can't beat 'FREE' for 30 days

I was a little puzzled by the number of UHHrs who associate guns with cameras. As I thought about it, I came to realize why so many birders 'shoot' their subject dead center. All that's missing is the crosshairs. If it wasn't for those godarn liberals and their environmental laws they could blow that bald eagle right out of the sky !!!

OOPS, President Nixon, an evil Republican put into law the 'Endangered Species Act' which includes the Bald Eagle. BTW, I and I'm sure others, take exception with your comment. I, and others hunt, many have a great selection of tools, however I'm, and I'm sure others, are very aware and respectful of all environmental laws. Now I prefer to 'shoot' with my camera, all species.....but when I, or my wife who loves wild game, get a hankering for some Moose, Deer, Elk, Pheasant, Quail in the refrig.....BANG!!! 😇😇😇 Now my Sony does most of the talking, but once in a while, my Browning likes to get a word in now & then.....

Now back to the topic at hand, as for beginning or upgrading, go for as much as you can reasonably afford, then save for more, more, more

From what I've read, heard and the continual 'push' Abode has been giving me to move to the Cloud, I think the entire issue between Lightroom or another program comes down to whether an individual wants to be tied to the cloud or a stand alone program...Most all are great programs and will do whatever their users want them to do or they will migrate somewhere else. If you're used to one program and like it, stay with it. Those are choices an individual makes based on their own specific needs....my One Cents worth

That well may be true but there's absolutely NO guarantee Adobe won't raise subscription prices (every other subscription I have has gone up, I expect LRCC to go up also), decrease minimum subscription storage space or increase storage prices....since it seems all programs are migrating to SaaS. Additionally you get upgrades with the subscription but are those upgrades so minor its hardly worth paying for over time? Different strokes for different folks. Me personally, I prefer the stand alone system and that's just me.

Man Cave 😉😉😉😉 'He who has the most toys when he dies wins.....I'll never win since I sell off things I don't use anymore. However, another poster suggested a cheap gun safe from Harbor Freight, that sounds like an excellent idea, store it in a closet in the spare bedroom. In fact I'm going to Harbor Freight this week to look for one myself.

I've had them both. I also have a Sony A77ii, still have the 6300 and use it for all my travels. The Sony 10-18, f4, OSS, while not cheap, is an awesome lens, pair that with the Sony SEL 18-200 and you got it covered. I also use it (A6300) with a Sony SAL 70-400 w/LA-EA3 and its works great with some limitations. Staying with my 6300 since I absolutely love it

Just moved from Lightroom 6 to Capture One Pro (Sony) $50.00 and liking it....different features but learning curve is fast and has a few other options I like (cataloging & sessions). My 2 cents
