Sorry if that was confusing with the light sources. The demoed system utilized only the hand-held light. The ring light I use for standard intraoral photos and esthetics. But it would be cool if a filter could be placed in front of the ring flash and not have to use a handheld at all.

The blue filter will be attached to an external hand-help led flashlight such as Surefire or Innova, etc. These would have probably at least 100 lumens light output power. This will provide illumination of the tissues that the "filter or adapter" will photograph and document any concentration spots.

There is a firm called "Photomed" that can supply all kinds of photo set-ups designed for medical or dental use. Full kits of body, lens, flash, memory cards, mirrors, cases, etc. More geared to those who want an all-in-one solution. They also have various diffusers for P+S camera flashes.

You'll get a response from Nikonian72. Others may have the answer you need but just the same pay attention to what he has to say. Or, send him a pm.

I copied question to that forum, thanks!

I'm working on a system for intra-oral lesion detection using an led flashlight with approx. 460nm blue filter to show tissue abnormalities through their fluorescence. Apparently there is camera lens attachment filter or adapter that will properly expose this scene but the company wants $1200 for the entire system so I'm trying to reverse engineer it. Theirs would work with a smartphone camera or dslr. Would be using Canon DSLR, macro lens, mx14 ring light. Any ideas? B+H suggested using an Expodisc to create a custom white balance for such a situation. Thanks!

Re: setting a Kelvin number for white balance, would it be better to start in "warm" redder range or "cooler" blue range? The photos I saw as demos seemed to be a yellow-brownish overall tone with darker more defined abnormal areas.

Android also has an authorized Nikon app where you can download the entire manual to your phone or tablet for reference. Actually you could download manuals for several Nikon models if you need them. Maybe Apple has it also? Plus it's free!

My wife has used Walgreens a lot recently for grandkids prints. They seemed fine, but for the latest set from Sedona I am trying AdoramaPix service. I want to see the difference, if any, that may show up by using a lab more in tune to pro expectations on color and paper, etc. I'm not a pro by any means but I'd like to get the best out of my shooting efforts. We'll get them back next week.

Does Nikon have a similar program? Might be worthwhile.

Sorry, I guess that was unclear. I'm looking to choose between these 3, which one finally to purchase.

The Art series seems to be getting good reviews. Anyone have personal experience with their 24-105 f4 lens yet? It's on my short buy list, along with Nikon 24-70 and Tamron 24-70. Thanks!

Yes, it would be more of an even comparison if Sigma was also f2.8. For outdoor use may not be too large an issue, indoors would have to crank up ISO a bit. Never a perfect choice in this world!

For a slightly longer range, Sigma 24-105 f4 has received a high 24 score from DxO, I believe higher than Nikon 24-70. It is new, part of their "Art" line so don't know long-term quality.
