On the back of the camera, move the indicator to the L position. It is by the OK button.

I will try this, I thought it controlled a different function. Thanks! I hope it's that easy...

So what is going on? I'll place the focus point on a specific spot, say the eyes, then move the camera's position to re-compose the shot, but always keeping the shutter button half-pressed with my finger. Take the shot, then when I look at the resulting photo in NX2, it shows the active focus point has moved downward, as if following the camera movement. Using D7100, aperture priority, AF-S, S area mode, center focus point only. I know I should be able to half-press for focus, recompose, shoot, while keeping the original focus point in focus. What did I miss?

Used to visit Central and Altman's with my Dad many years ago as I grew up in Chicago. Mom bravely tagged along, we both wanted to leave as soon as possible. I wish I could visit them again now! Don't have any real need to go back there.

The aluminum ring filters tend to get "stuck" in the lens threads, really hard to unscrew. That made me switch to B+W with brass threads, no more sticking! Also, another writer posted a testing result showing Hoya had the best UV filters while B+W had the best CPL filters in terms of image quality and light transmission.

What are opinions or facts regarding comparing the 2 "bundled" pp programs, Canon DPP and Nikon NX2? Are they equally useful or capable? Can Canon's pp open a Nikon raw file or vice versa? I have both on the computer and have just used a program with its respective camera. Thanks!

God bless her and many thanks to all her colleagues helping our troops! I have always felt the military was a great practice model for medical personnel. Lots of travel, training, respect. Tried to convince my RN stepdaughter to go into military after nursing school but she decided to stay local and get married. Sigh. As long as she's happy, but I always felt she could have done better. Just wanted the best for her.

Sigma Art Series 24-105 F4. Outstanding lens. Rated as good or better than Canon 24-105L. I'd take a 70-200, but it doesn't get wide enough.
Has the Sigma performed as well on the Nikon as on the Canon bodies? I haven't found any new reviews since the Nikon mount one was released.

Tamron also has a 2.8 70-200 that has received good reports. Anyone know a comparison or worked with both of these with regards to image quality relative to each other and the much more expensive Canon or Nikon?

Did you do the test with the lens wide open at all focal lengths? If you don't, everything will look sharp and the test will be invalid. I hope you did it right and the lens is that good!

Yes, but the lens is limited to 3.5-5.6 so I probably got more DOF and sharpness anyway. But I did make sure of that. Thanks!

Today I checked out my Nikon 18-200 VR2 lens with the LensCal calibration system. D7100 body. Checked it at 18, 95, 200 mm. Both units were on tripods, distance measured with tape measure, outside lighting, aperture priority, ISO 100. I got the suggested distances from the LensAlign site, they use 25x focal length to test with. Camera snapped into focus quickly. Checked the images on computer screen up to 100%. It looked like the lens was focusing correctly, on the square spot on the LensCal card. The "0" line seemed to be properly in focus. Honestly I could not tell any differences from -1,0, or +1 lines. So I guess when my pictures don't look focused correctly it's my fault! Just gotta pay more attention. But at least I have renewed confidence in the lens.

They did a very nice job with our Sedona photos for my wife's scrapbooking hobby. Quality packaging and wrapping, good color renditions. I'd use them again!

Just curious, what is the excitation light source you're using?
I plan to use a handheld led flashlight like Surefire or Streamlight, etc. with a blue add-on filter in the front, around 100 lumens. The whole package should cost no more than $100. EBay has a lot of used lights available. It seems the wavelength is about 460nm but SF never emailed me back when I asked them to be specific. They have a filter designed for medics to search for blood and other fluids. Still looking for a filter for the lens, if I even really need one.

So your retina photos first required an application of a staining solution? I used an acetic acid based oral swish and spit with an older system that needed a one-use light activated wand. Got messy, low power, poor taste.
