Affinity Photo is an alternative to Photoshop. However, the big difference is that Affinity is only $50! The desktop work space is similar as are most of the tools. Plus, there's a ton of tutorials available when purchased along with those on YouTube.
Thanks for the reply. Those washed out highlights have been cloned out now and you're right, it's much better.
This is a second photo of a church in the small town where my dad was born & raised. My wife and I made a beeline trip from the Puget Sound region of Washington to Deering, ND to research family history. Anyway, it was a beautiful day and this subject could only be rendered in b&w. I may have gotten carried away with the tone of the sky, though.
Beautiful shot of your grandson!
These were photographed in my basement in a makeshift black box when I was experimenting with lighting and a new off-camera flash. I added a few filters just because I could and liked the outcome. I think I paid $2 for the shoes at a local Goodwill store.
This is a second in a series of outdoor staircases that I photographed in Prescott, Az. There's been a few tweaks; some cropping, tonal adjustments, and the sky/clouds were copied/pasted from another location. All in all, not too bad, I think.
Wow! What a captivating photo! Nice work...
Very nice work. The after photo is not nearly so stark and now looks warm and comfy.
Thank you for suggesting the use of the clone tool for removing the washed out area in the clouds. Frankly, I should have thought of that prior to attaching the photo. Anyway, I did as you suggested and it turned out so much the better. Thanks again, Ken
Thank you all for the nice comments.
Attached is a second wheat field that I drove by just outside of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. I think overall the photo is pleasing, with the exception of the washed out cloud in the left hand corner. I tried to burn some detail in, but there simply isn't any detail to be had. Oh well... By the way, I'm really getting to like the Affinity editing software. Ken
Last year I came across this golden wheat field just outside of Bonners Ferry, Idaho. I'm riding a learning curve with Affinity Photo software, but all in all, I'm rather pleased with the outcome. Ken
How excellent! As others have stated, the composition is great. That, and the color saturation is great. Whatever tweaks you make were spot on!
While my wife was shopping for antiques, I grabbed my camera and went walking about and came across this pretty still life on a front porch. Only a few minor adjustments were made to the photo. I suppose I could have made some color separation between the wall and the "scarecrow". Perhaps I'll do that and see what the results are like.
Thank you for the suggestion. Looking the photo over, the whites may be a bit blown out, but all and all, it wasn't too bad for a novice with a camera and makeshift darkroom.
