I've tried to use the Amazon cloud and found it slow and clunky. I'm reevaluating options,

Welcome. I, too, stated with a101. I have some really good lenses for it and got an adapter for it from B&H Photo. They now work as fully manual in my D5300.

Chaco is very remote. Don't go if you're unprepared. Canyon Dr Chelly is magic. Take the tour into the canyon.

You're not permitted to use digital cameras or cell phones at Acoma. They sell the disposable cameras, but if I return, I'll bring my old 35.

Several thoughts from someone who lives in NM for several years and has visited several of the recommended sites.

1. Recognize you'll be well above sea level so altitude sickness at our ages (I'm 71). Get soome electrolytes -- Gatorade, Revive, etc.

2. The Albuquerque Balloonn Festival is in mid-October. It's a great event but at this late lodging and crowds are factors.

3. Finally, all the recommendations are good, but it's late in the year, so check what's still open.

Gave a good trip.

Amarillo’s chamber of commerce (I refuse to capitalize it) and tourism people do a lousy job of promoting 66, but it’s a cool stop. Look for parts of it through town on Amarillo Boulevard. And, for the best part, Sixth Street between Western and Georgia streets. That’s the antique row for town.

Of course, there’s Cadillac Ranch and the Big Texan Steak Ranch. The food there is inconsistent, but it’s a fun stop. Both are on Interstate 40.

if you want to see the great railroad heritage, head downtown to a little park behind the Civic Center to look at the Madame Queen, a massive prototype steamer built for the Santa Fe for heavy freight service.

Last, if you have time, drop south to Palo Duro Canyon, the second largest canyon in the U.S.

As a former New Mexico resident, I will vouch for any stop along the Mother Road.

Great photo. Looks to me the boats are jockeying for position at the start of a race.

It's always been a washout to get my D5300 to do silky water. Do I need a neutral density filter?

The idiots at Eye-Fi have indulged in a half-hearted attempt to not totally burn customers with the following announcement:

August 31, 2016
To the users of Eye-Fi X2 and Earlier Generation Eye-Fi cards:
Last month we announced the “End of Life” (EOL) of a range of products including Eye-Fi Pro X2 and prior products. For details on that announcement please click HERE. There is new information contained in this announcement.
Note: Eyefi Mobi and Mobi Pro customers are not impacted by this EOL process.
NEW X2 UTILITY NOW AVAILABLE FOR MAC AND WINDOWS
This notice is to inform you that Eyefi has completed work on a new desktop software utility – the X2 Utility (X2U) for the PC and Mac – that will permit cards impacted by the EOL to continue operating beyond the deadline of September 15, 2016.
As a reminder, after September 15, 2016 Eye-Fi Center desktop software will no longer have the ability to configure Eye-Fi X2 and other cards impacted by the EOL. Customers wishing to use the X2U will have to uninstall Eye-Fi Center from their computer prior to installing the new utility. Once the X2U is installed and activated, cards impacted by the EOL will have ability to continue transferring images to a desktop computer.
The X2U is provided to users free of charge as-is and without warranty or helpdesk support. We have published knowledge base documentation on how to set-up and use the X2U.
X2 Utility Highlights
• Support for Pro X2 and all earlier generation products with the “Eye-Fi” branding as well as 3rd party branded cards from SanDisk and Visioneer
• Activation and set-up of cards to transfer images to a PC or Mac via an infrastructure or direct network connection (your Eye-Fi card must have the ability to do Direct Mode transfers)
• Transferred images will be saved to a directory of users choosing but will be organized in a date based chronological order
• Eye-Fi Center software must be un-installed from the PC or Mac prior to installation of the X2U
• X2U will NOT integrate with Eye-Fi View nor Eyefi Cloud service: it will be limited to desktop transfer only
This utility is being provided to allow more time for customers seeking an alternative WiFi SD card solution. It is not intended as a permanent/long-term solution. The X2U will not be adding any new features beyond this one-time release set of capabilities.
In order to download the X2U as well as accessing further information on the utility, please click HERE. [Link embedded in original email is:

Welcome. This is a great site populated with so many knowledgeable folks.

I still have my Minolta SRT-101 and X700 cameras. I also have several of the lenses. And, in March bought a Nikon D5300 and adapter so I can use the old lenses on a modern device.
