I shot this Blue Heron yesterday in Corscrew Swamp and I thought maybe I could make the bird just stand out. I tried darking then bringing up the highlights. Then I wondered is this photo good to go as is?
Hi: I was thinking about your dress in the window. It is a great photo. I took the liberty to try and improve on an already excellent photo. Sometimes less is more. The dress is the same color of the bldg. So how would you make the dress stand out in this photo. First I think I would change the color of the dress, or make the photo into a b&W image and then color the dress. It is a great photo, and I wish I had taken it. I croped the photo a little tighter and it still tells the same story but with a little more impact.

Thanks for your comments. I like your crop and agree that it helps. Thanks.
Was intrigued when I noticed the dress in the window. The old lodge was boarded up and abandoned. I can't help but wonder what's the story behind "The Dress in the Window". Simply forgotten and left behind or there for a message. Perhaps a private message for us not to know. What say you and does the photo arouse any emotion?
Two things strike me:
1.) The story. The dress in the window gives the picture some "aha" moment that we strive for.
2.) The lighting. It's definitely sunset or sunrise and that really lights the house nicely.
Interesting pic because of these two things.

Thanks and you are right. It was not too long after sunrise. Below are two pics taken fom essentially the same spot showing that nice lighting.
Leah, I love Layer1's (No pun intended ) snowing image and am adding a photo from a friend in England. Sent to me this morning from Surrey....remember the trees are leafless and goldly illuminated by the morning sun......Good thread. Thanx for starting.
