A really good SF story from about 60 years ago, you reminded me of it. Seems the only thing the aliens recovered from our society was a roll of 70 mm (movie) file.
The aliens spend years analysing it & trying to understand our extinct culture from it. After writing many books about it, the only thing they never understood was the final frame of the movie: "Walt Disney Productions".

well, I guess I should have pointed out that they were analysing , and trying to understand our society, and writing books about it with only the data available in a Mickey Mouse cartoon..

Let's assume that an advanced alien race has been observing earth for thousands of years and filing reports on human behavior. I'd love to read those reports. They could turn our human behavior into hilarious sitcoms on their home planet. The only problem is that the alien population would probably find the plots to be too unbelievable.

"Wait, a minute. Are you trying to tell us that these humans spend much of their tax money making weapons to kill each other? Many live in luxury while others starve to death? They refuse to take medicine to cure their diseases? They think their planet is flat? You've got to make your comedies a little more believable."

I just hope that humans never find another planet to inhabit when this one is thoroughly messed up.

not to sure if Mt Equinox is worth it or not (south of rutland) nice views but quite a climb. I had a yearly pass ($10) in the sixties, VHF radio works great if you mount the antenna on a 3800 foot tower/

Strange, the only Fluk meter I ever ran into was a wierd thing, had about ten knobs, each knob had 10 positions (0-9) and a Zero center meter. you measured voltage by zeroing the meter with the knobs, then reading what the knobs were set to. It had zero load on the ckt when the meter was zeroed, extermely accurate but useless as a lab meter...

zip-lock bag is a good idea. I just LEAVE THE DAMN THINGS ON THE CHARGER (I have 3 chargers & 3 batterys) I cannot be bothered with half (or whatever) charge storage, I use 'em when they act like they are dying, I replace 'em. I have never had to replace more than one battery on a shoot, though sometimes I do take two. (belt and suspenders) Mostly, in fact, I return with the same one in the camera as I started with. I usually leave one in the camera and if I have all three on charge, I try to take a different one next time, but as far as keeping records, too much trouble.

Still have my 260, and when I really want to know if an AC line is hot before working on it, I check with my Simpson analog meter, not a DVM.

& if you want to know which side is the hot side, a neon /bk/ interesting, even if it is a triplett, we still call it a simpson..(even if we dontknow how to spell it.. GBG

all the above answers, including my own, are BS. You dont care because the ,by far, BEST way is to have a second battery on charge and put it in your pocket as you walk out the door. When you return, put it back on the charger unless you had to swap battrys in that case, put the dead one on the charger. Nothing to think/or worry about if you do that... Ed k2edm

With a Voltmeter!

aka a simpson, but if you asked the question, you probably don't know what a simpson is either, so the best answer to your question is "no!" sri Ed BTW a voltmeter (& a
VTVM is worse) will only give you the no load voltage which likely will NOT reflect its charge state which is what you really want to know, which returns me to the best answer,"NO".

I just returned today from capturing some autumn images and after downloading them into Bridge I noticed the file numbers are different. Some of the files begin with X6A and then some of them begin with 4X6A. The actual image number is in sequence, its just the first three or four numbers that are confusing.

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

my best guess: you were messing with file names on the camera and accidently changed things (no problem though), you can always change 'em back, but why bother..... there are too many "controls" on some cameras....

"I had the same problem even with using progressive lens eyeglasses. Read about glasses made for monitors. I don't know what they are called, neither did the optometrist, but he did change something that helped a lot."

I have excellent vision up close, not so much for distance. I have worn glasses for nearly 70 years, bi-focals, then tri-focals (for computer use) over the past few years. Recently, my optometrist gave me one prescription for halfway between my near and distant vision correction. Costco filled the prescription. For me, these are good for about 24" to 8', just right for computer screens and tv sets. Yes, it does somewhat defeat the purpose of wearing trifocals, in that I now have a separate set of glasses to keep track of, but I find them much better for computer work in particular, since the screen doesn't move in and out, and I get the full lens through which to look.

Good luck with your search; this has worked for me.

I wore corrective lenses for 60+ years and was told that I could not join the army, but when I asked "can I get out?" the answer was "No!". Anyway about20 years ago I had cataract surgery in both eyes, they fixed the problem and now I am corrective lens free. Not sure whether your insurance will pay for the surgery w/o the cateracts though..
