Fantastic set of images!!! Dan
Where is the dredged sand going and how is it getting there.
I used to work for a company that supplied polyethylene pipe for moving the sand and floats to support the pipe.
The majority of the operations we supplied were on rivers .

The Packery Channel operation is pumping the sand onto the beach about a half mile away. I'm not sure where the sand is going in the Corpus Christi bay operation.

The first three images are of a dredge operation in Packery Channel. The fourth image is a dredge operation in the ship channel crossing Corpus Christi Bay. The last image is a shrimp boat passing a barge.

I found a large group of low flying vultures feeding at the shoreline. The first vulture appears to be flying blind, and most were Turkey Vultures, but the last image is a Black Vulture. I was a bit too close to the feeding vultures but you can easily see the difference in the two types of vultures. Thanks for viewing.

I found this solitary Curlew diligently working this field. He was going back and forth while probing the ground with his long curved bill. I never saw what he was catching, so I suppose it must have been small. The last photo is a Willet who was working the same field.

If they are feeding heavy they will hang around sometimes & maybe even come closer but you need to stay stationary for long periods & slowly move just a little each time & try not to look at them while inching closer. One thing I noticed one day. A kayaker beaches his yak, gets out & starts fishing & what do you know. The large wader walks up to within 15 feet of him. Same when someone throws a cast net for bait fish.

I have seen them approaching fishermen fairly often in some locations.

Great Blue Herons remain so stationary they remind of sentries guarding the shoreline, but if I approach too close they fly away like the one in the last image. Unfortunately, my camera settings will be set for still images, and I end up with motion blur and a heron departing. Thanks for viewing.

I seldom pass on the opportunity to photograph the moon. I am not sure why. It could be a compulsive disorder. I hope you enjoy.

This Iceland gull is apparently lost. They are usually found in northern Canada and Iceland in the winter. The gull apparently mixed in with Herring gulls and found his way to the Gulf coast. They are smaller than a herring gull but larger than our local Laughing gulls. I hope you enjoy.

Quite different from our whistling ducks in the US, but it looks like they have similar behavior.

This is a Cattle Tyrant which is a nonmigratory bird from South America. This is the only known specimen to be seen north of Panama. No one knows how he ended up in Corpus Christi, but I suspect he was transported. He is a flycatcher, and feeds on the ground a lot. If you are interested, you can read more about the bird in the link below. The fifth and sixth photo show part of a red patch on his head if you look closely. Most of the time the red patch is concealed. The photos were taken on a grey overcast day in relatively low light. I hope you enjoy this rare bird.

Most mornings I can find Caracara perched on this light fixture about a block from my house. Some days there is one, but on other days there are two. The pictures are heavily cropped because they are at a bit of a distance. I hope you enjoy.

This bird was bothered by me, and it was swimming away. He was at a good distance before he finally swallowed the fish. Thanks for viewing.
