My dear one and I are off to Vermont for a glorious weekend! I will be taking my NEX 5n along, and would appreciate any suggestions re: capturing brilliant reds and oranges against brilliant blue skys. Will post the best when we return.
Thanks Folks!

Really good advice, thank you. I checked into HDR,
Only to find HDR simulation is installed on my camera! Color me red!
I tried a few HDR shots; the 5N takes three exposures, blends them into one best compilation. Will try a few, post the best. I can see an improvement already

don't like the overexposure coming through windows. Professionals can take same shot, but clear image of trees etc outside is captured. Probably something basic I should do in settings; suggestions welcome

Sorry- Interior means shots of rooms in houses, as I am a Realtor. I use tripods, most of my point and shoot pics are managed to 200 ISO by the NEX. Funny- I went in to use 100 ISO, it isn't available! boo hiss.
see pictures- neither is acceptable; need to understand how to set camera to capture views through the window. My nemisis personified. i added a third to show a decent shot of dining room, no window

got it re: tripod; i use it always. A question came re: lens choice: I use the Sony 18-55 lens; bought the 16 mm WAL pancake from Sony- I can't see much difference at all, so I am about to sell it on E-bay, get the 18-200 when my piggy bank allows. The pancake seems useless, unless I am not using proper settings on the NEX. Goal when I bought it was to get much wider views in tight spots.
Anyone have a 18-200mm for sale cheap? :-)

Learned a lot from you guys- I am shooting at 100 ISO, up to 400 to see results. tyty, Bob

Still working out stuff on my lovely NEX5n; It offers exceptional ISO ranges, but the more I read posts here at UHH, the more I wonder if I am confusing myself.

I do a fair amount of interior photography, and have gravitated to 1600 ISO for that purpose. My results are often average. Now I see a lot of respected contributors shooting at ISO 100. If you were me, shooting in low light surroundings , what setting would YOU choose? Any resources on the web would be fan-tastic!

funny, no one mentions the mirrorless option. My Sony NEX is tiny by comparison, the specs match (or exceed) the heavyweights, and, yes, you can go well beyond $1,000 when including wide angle lenses, other options.
Navigating many dials etc. takes an adjustment, but on a recent vacation to Canada, I got some awesome pictures, without the bulk or weight of a DSLR

Buneweld, it actually works the other way around: When a manufacturer releases new products, they typically provide support for 3rd party vendors who need to update their products to meet the new requirements (Did u get all that).
The OEM'S can't imagine how to update 1,000's of hardware and software products to run on their equipment.
For several years, I ran IBM's 3rd party PC support center, and am quite familiar with the process.

I bought a Mac in December; soon after I replaced my printer with a HP 8600. The quality of printing and faxing went well; the scan to email function turned out to be a nightmare. Now that it is fixed, I love the HP 8600; however, you MUST sign into hp.com/support, search on 8600 allinone; and download EVERY fix they offer. I struggled in the Forum for awhile, and there were some useful ideas, but the only thing that worked was the software fixes to the OS. Brilliant all-in-one, but fussy at first
