Yes, do visit Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown NY. Home of the second oldest Stars and Stripes flag from the war of 1812. About 13 miles north from Niagara Falls NY in Fort Niagara State Park. The Robert Moses Parkway (now renamed Niagara Scenic Parkway) will get you there from Niagara Falls NY. If you take the parkway to Lewiston NY, following route 18F from Lewiston to Youngstown is a more scenic route than staying on the parkway. The fort with its "French castle" and museum are well worth the visit. The state park admission fee will be refunded if you visit the fort. There are daily activities and frequent re-enactments and encampments. It is located right across the mouth of the river from the lovely town of Niagara on the Lake (catch a show at the Shaw Festival) which a previous poster mentioned. If not already mentioned in a previous post the Butterfly Conservatory and the Niagara Parks Commission botanical gardens on the Canadian side are also well worth a visit. Many photo opportunities at all of these locations. If you cannot visit all during this trip please consider another visit. Huge air show at the Niagara Falls air base this weekend. USAF Thunderbirds and RCAF Snowbirds will be there. Enjoy your visit. YNY.

Do birds ever finish the suet and seed cakes (regular size) I put in those wire basket holders? It seems they eat from them when I first put them out but then two weeks later they are still unfinished. I think woodpeckers and nuthatches can still get to what is in the basket if they wanted to. Do I need to throw them out and replace at some regular interval? Thanks in advance for your experience and advice.

Do you have a filter attached to the lens? Mounting the hood on top of a filter(s) may push it far enough forward for vignetting to occur especially at wider zoom. I had this happen to me. YNY.

The D200 is an excellent camera considering the technology at the time. The images have the first generation color by Nikon which are pastel like.
Its sensor and firmware are similar to those in the D2X.

I have a D200 and always thought the colors were vivid not soft or pastel like. What setting would provide "pastel like" colors? Thank you. YNY.

Some time ago I asked for opinions of the Olympus TG-5 vs. a similar camera from Nikon. I decided to purchase the TG-5. I purchased two TG-5 cameras by accident and decided to give them to both of my sons. My order disappeared from my screen so I re-did it and by magic two cameras are delivered. Yes, I got billed for two. One son is a naval architect/marine engineer and the other a professional chef. I think both will enjoy and make good use of them. The cameras are much more complex (sophisticated?) than I anticipated but appear to be a good choice. Thanks for your advice to all who offered their opinions.

New to Ugly Hedgehog but more about me later in a more appropriate forum. Looking for a graduation gift for my son (B. Eng. Naval Architecture with license, SUNY Maritime College). His job may involve some travel and marine related work. On weekends he crews on the 12 meter Freedom which won the America's cup in 1980. I am considering Nikon Coolpix W300 (just released) or Olympus TG-5 (to be released this month). Both of these are very new but look like ideal for use on a sailboat and for traveling. Any recommendations or thoughts would be helpful. Thank you for your help.
