I hope for your sake that she doesn't start perusing Ugly now that she has a new camera and see herself pictured here..ooooh I think you'd be in trouble.
Nik plug-ins do a good job but some others take it further..I like the Topaz plug-ins and On One's Perfect Effects feeling they offer more.
Why the old version would cost more than the newer version is surprising...maybe a promotional price on the newer version. This is a no brainer...go for the newer version 11 at the lower price while you can get it. There are some interface changes between them but the newer version should be better than the older one.
Montgomery Ward's...a Christmas book promotion. Confess I had to look it up and would have guessed at Macy's. What I did learn is how old it is.1939...didn't think it was that old.
For all-around usefulness, I use Corel's Paint Shop Pro (and I have had current versions including Elements 11. The Smart Editor is good for quick effects...Paint Shop Pro can handle any plug-ins I've had so far with the exception of the Perfect Suite ones which are geared to Photoshop and Elements. Not to say that the Perfect Suite might not be able to be tweaked too...just haven't tried since it's set-up auto loads to Elements.
Loved the footage..I always thought my dad resembled Bing.
I agree with the thought that it is a combination of both the technical and creative skills. You can teach the techniques, improve the ability to "see" things from a creative standpoint..but it takes a certain "something"in the individual themselves to take it beyond the basics to something outstanding...
I purchased it..but since I have several editors, really didn't get into it. I opened it up the other day and used it on a photo that I had already done postwork on. It did a great job of bringing the photo more to what I was trying to achieve than any of the others...
Decorations look really nice..and I really liked some of the more "creative" shots. I did find that the originals appeared to be "fuzzy". The corrections did make a big difference in the viewing. You might ask what was done to improve them for your own future use. I found that postwork made all the difference in our Digitelle Traveler shots.

I really need some advice.
When I take a picture it looks good on the camera. When I download it to the computer the picture is quite different and when I print the result is different to the computer and the camera.
The camera is a D7000 and quite new so I assume that's the correct picture.
The picture on the camera will always look better than what you will see on the computer, no matter what camera. It's compressed. In order to really see what you've got, it needs to be on the computer and not just what you see on the screen..it needs to be viewed at 100 percent (which is bigger than a screen will allow) because it will still be compressed. Ordinarily, anything that looks good at full screen size should print well. The differences in what is seen in print is a whole other matter, seldom as striking as what is seen on your screen. The luminosity of the screen alone makes for better viewing. The print depends on the proper settings, the paper that is used and the quality and capability of the printer itself.

......... but neither should encouragement be given for an inferior image.
Someone tells the truth about an image being crap and they get vilified and jumped on for it by those same people that tell the lies. The one that tells the truth is branded as a horrible person when they defend themselves, and the ones that lie all the time are branded as the "nice" people.
It's all about how a person is told that their image is crap..telling the truth is not the problem, it's the way the truth is presented. No one is going to respond favorably to someone labeling their image as such. If the comments are technical about what is wrong and how it can be improved, the recipiant is far more likely to accept the criticism and learn from the advice instead of getting their back up instantaneously and blocking whatever good advice they might pull from it. Some people's posting style is blunt and they don't sugarcoat the medicine.

She always did like a bit of drama. I believe she is back under a new name. Perhaps you will spot her. 8-)
Everything you always wanted to know about MWAC but were afraid to ask. 8-)
Well that settles it in my mind..becoming a sock puppet to become insulting...good riddance! I wasn't following her tutorials because there are professional tutorials available for almost every action one might want to do and I'd never seen anything of hers that inspired me to emulate them. Is every photo shown here a winner? No..but unless someone asks for an opinion, critique or help...nothing hurtful should be said but neither should encouragement be given for an inferior image.
One of mine wound up on a critique page in error on another site. Never viewing it at 100% but only screen size, I thought it was decent. It was ripped apart by the person doing the critiques. Did I like it..No! However, he was absolutely on the money and I will never submit another photo without going over it with a fine tooth comb at 100%.

I agree it's too bad she had a lot of knowledge and more than willing to share but damn when she went all postal what was admin suppose to do? Same thing with EW some folks just never learn to play well with others especially others who have their own points of view.
Oh wait, I missed all of that lol. what happened!? link to a post??

Well now I know what the final straw was all about......5 of the 21 Pages was enough to see where it was heading. Methinks someone's inflated opinion of themselves caused them to post what I'd consider an unnecessarily rude response to a request..with escalating pro's and con's.
Yes she was a very good, active contributor. Unfortunately, there were some issues and I'm not quite clear as to which one caused her to jump ship.
