WOW.... just love those pics......the red colors, etc. And, this done with the Kit lens ..............Very nice......

The 3rd picture was sooc, no editing at all with the kit lens.
The first 2 had minor shadow or highlight touch up only.
I did shoot raw, so I had to convert to jpg. I used Canon's free DPP4 software to do that.

Thank You.

Well I have sold my Canon 80D camera with kit lens. However, I didn't sell my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM Lens. I am now on my way to purchasing the Canon M50 mirrorless camera with 15-45mm kit lens. That said, my plans are to get into Macro photography, and possibly purchasing the Canon EF-S 35mm f/2.8 Macro IS STM Lens. I like the Canon M50 because of it's light weight, for photography on long hikes in the desert and mountainous areas. Does anyone have specific experience using the Canon M50 camera with EF-S lens??? I want to make the correct lens adapter selection. Attached, please find some pics I made using my Canon 80D with my Canon EF-S 17-55mm f2.8 IS USM Lens. I would like now, to explore producing closeup pics of these rock specimens, and many others. Is the Canon EF-S Macro 35mm f2.8 the correct direction to go????? Any other Macro lens suggestions??? Thanks again for any helpful information....

I just recieved my EOS M50 EF-M 15-45mm IS STM kit.
It is so nice out, I took a quick jump outside to shoot some pictures.
These are all raw, hand held, ISO auto shooting in manual mode.
Does a nice job of up close pictures handheld. Not true Macro, however very nice and may be good enough for you.

If you’re planning taking handheld macro shots when you’re out walking you’ll want a longer macro lens than 35mm. I don’t shoot Canon and don’t know their lenses, but I’d be looking for something in the 90mm+ range.

Canon has this "M" series lense that is used for Macro as well as being an "all rounder":

EF-M 18-150mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Graphite

Currently available new for $499.00

Like buying 3rd party lenses, why buy 3rd party accessories related to lenses.
I just bought an M50. Since it is a crop sensor camera, it will work with Canon's EF-S lenses. I decided to get a refurb EF-EFM Adapter. There are cheaper adapters out there, however they each have mixed user reviews. This means that there is a lot of variety in quality.
This is why I bought the Canon version.
My M50 arrives via FedEx today.
For Macro, and for that matter portrait photography, The Canon 100MM F/2.8 L IS Macro is a great lens!
Be cautious of speed boosters. Read all reviews, pro and user. There is no such thing as a free lunch when it comes to lenses. Like 1.4 and 2x extenders, they sound great however there are caveats and limitations.

This shelter-in-place/stay at home thing isn't all bad. Batteries Plus, where I work, is considered an essential business so, I still have income. The downside is our hours have been reduced. The upside is now I have a 3 day weekend every week. Gives me a chance to shoot a few pictures. The flowers are on a bush off our patio. They look like honeysuckle but, the leaves & plant in general don't look like the honeysuckle I'm familiar with. I tried following the bees through the viewfinder. Gave up & switched to the point, follow, & shoot method. Got more pictures although a lot either missed the bee or were fuzzy. Will get out again this morning, before it gets too hot, & try again.

Nice collection, however you may want to up your shutter speed.
According to the EXIF, you are shooting at 1/80,1/160, 1/380?? I would suggest at least 1/500.

I considered doing that but I read a number of other reviews that confirmed my experience. For instance, DxOmark rated the sharpness of the 24-105 at 15 vs 21 for the 24-70. Even if my AF wasn't up to par, that still doesn't change the sharpness or color rendition. Canon has a reputation for just sending lenses back saying they perform in spec so I didn't bother.

All due respect and certainly no ill will, however DxOmark?? Really???

I have yet to find an L glass that wasn't excellent.
However, so long as we are each happy with our decisions, that is what is important.

I'll take the contrary view on the 24-70 vs 24-105. I bought my 5D IV with a 24-105 II but found it was just not as good as other L lenses. I had a 70-200 f/4 IS at the time and thought it was much better. My $125. 50 1.8 blew it away. In particular, the AF wasn't very consistent and the colors seemed a bit dull as well. After months of trying to like it, I threw in the towel and bought the 24-70 2.8 II. It is a lot sharper, colors are better and the AF performs fast, accurate and consistent. You won't miss the IS. It's really not needed in this focal length and after having a 2.8 aperture, I could never go back to 4.0 maximum. It's also built like a tank. There is a reason it is the pro's choice.

Love my 24-105II. No issues with IS or image quality. It filled a gap in my kit. (read, I got gas and a great price) I use it with my 5D IV and 6D II. I have even used it with my 7D II to shoot outdoor sports. Heck, I even used it two weeks ago to shoot close up flower shots, just to test it.
Not much use for it indoors as I also have the 24-70 and 70-200, both f/2.8
Did you ever reach out to Canon about it?

Try another cable as a test. I've seen VGA cables do this, color shift just from touching or wiggling the cable. Do the digital connections (HDMI, DVI) do this? I don't know, but this sure sounds like the experience I had with a VGA cable once upon a time.

Yes, HDMI cables. or connectors, fail and cause color shift.
