Yes, lower the ISO first if possible. However, Aperture is not the driving decision for everyone or in every case. Sometimes shutter speed (think sports) is the driving decision, in which case after ISO, Aperture would be the thing to change. Am I missing something here?
CHG_CANON wrote:
Depends. I'd start with can I lower the ISO? Since my aperture is always the driving decision, next I'd look at making the shutterspeed faster. Maybe my aperture was a mistake, but I'd change that last, if forced.

This image supports my teaching point that there is no such thing as bad light, just bad use of the existing light!

We also stopped at the waterfall, where we heard a woman singer atop a rock outcropping.

I too switched from a Canon Rebel to an 80D and love it. Similar screens and controls, so easy learning. Good luck.

Anyone using the 80d? If so, how are you liking it----or not? My T2i bit the dust after it was dropped. Now the shutter won't budge. I should be getting my new, to me, 80d tomorrow or the day after from B&H photo. I have a feeling this is going to be a drastic learning curve for me. Comments please.

Timely message. Recently purchased a used Canon 80D, which I love. It came with two batteries which my charger can only charge to about 20%. I thought it was a problem with my charger or a mismatch. Now I understand the issue and will purchase two new Li batteries and treat them appropriately. Thanks for the information.

Interesting enough, I've found out that fully discharging Lithium batteries is indeed harmful to them and that it's best to recharge before they reach 30% discharged. It is also important not to overcharge them and topping them off to 100% can also be harmful if it causes them to heat up in the process (especially if left on the charger overnight, etc). Heat is very damaging and using your device with the charger plugged in can cause excessive heat as well and should also be avoided. Since most devices now (especially phones, tablets, etc.) do not allow for user swappable batteries these maintenance techniques can really help with the longevity of your devices. Again, good luck and good shooting to all.

I have not bought refurbished laptops off of Walmart or Ebay, I've bought two of them from my local (not big box) computer store. The techs repair and refurbish computers on site.

I purchased a refurbished Dell desktop from the above outlet 2 years ago, and it has not skipped a beat from the second I plugged it in.

I'm typing this on a refurbished M1 MacBook Air 2020 I ordered from Apple Refurbished. It was $250 less than the same spec in a new box, and came with the same warranty. It has been flawless.
