Thanks...I'll play around with that.

We've had a lot of small snakes in our yard this year. This one slithered through my perennial garden the other day. He stuck out his neck under one of my Astilbe plants and started the "tongue" motion. I know he has a green tint because he was under all that greenery and the sun was bright that day, but I was impressed with my 18-135 kit lens and my Canon Rebel T6s. I was probably 3 feet away. Is there a way in PSE to remove the green shadows cast by the leaves? I'm still learning all the ins and outs of a DSLR camera.

I don't know my flowers either but my guess is top one some kind of lily and the bottom maybe hydrangeas?

I just purchased a T6s nine months ago from canon refurbished came with one year new camera warranty. Condition you could not tell by looking at it from new and works like new. Would do it again

I purchased a T6s with a 18-135 lens a year ago March and mine too looked brand new. Have never had an issue. Then I ordered a couple other lens - same thing, looked brand new. I am looking to purchase an "L" refurbished lens as soon as they have some back in stock. I check every day because they are sold "fast."

Have no idea where you are shooting or what but you can always look for a fixed object, wall, gate, post or some other sturdy item to use as a prop.

The faster F stop is really the answer in some cases but if you want to use slower then take your partner along and have them stand still as you use their shoulder or whatever to allow a stationary help.

When walking around the yard or down by our pond, there is nothing to lean on in the area where I want to shoot. My stick monopod works to some extent so I'm sure the monopod with the feet with definitely serve my purpose. Thanks for the tip on the low f/stop! Will keep that in mind.

THANKS EVERYONE for your input. I did order a Sirui with the snap locks vs. the twist locks on the leg. I hope it serves my purpose, which I'm sure it will. I'm excited now for it to come. This is such a GREAT site to get information and suggestions, especially when you're a beginner. Thanks again!!!!

Save your money!!! buy a tripod. Been there done that, the monopods are great for very few people, but they do make a good walking stick or if heavy enough a good attitude modifier.

I have a good tripod. Sometimes I want to walk around the yard and take pictures. Too much work and bulk trying to carry the tripod. I'm too unsteady with the camera sometimes and just wanted "some" support to help me hold still. I have a stick monopod with no feet and I still sway at times so I thought the one with feet would give offer me a little more steadiness, that's all.

The one for $159 sounds doable. Thanks for suggesting.

I use the Manfro 685b one hand adjustable monopod and also now using the Manfro 361 monopod stabilizer - http://www.ebay.com/itm/391693621399?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I can recommend both highly ...the stabilizer does not necessarily have to be used against your shoulder - any part of your main torso can help !

Thanks. I'll do some research about this kind of setup.

I'll recommend the Sirui 426S as well. I have on and love it. The feet give you that extra stability that you won't get with just the monopod without getting in the way like a tripod. You can pick them up overseas if you don't mind waiting for it a little. This is where I got mine: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172420817543?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Thanks. I don't want to sound cheap, but that's a little more than I want to spend. I'm just a photography enthusiast, nothing more.

Just be aware you cannot use a monopod-with-feet to hold your camera while you walk away to adjust something.
I mean maybe you can, but if your camera and lens have any value it isn't wise. A monopod-with-feet IS useful to steady your camera (and old geezers like us) a bit more than a standard monopod while you are taking that prize-winning shot. Just don't trust it to stand up by itself under all circumstances.

No, I would never use it to hold my camera like a tripod. I just can't tuck my elbows into my body and press my camera against my face without causing some movement. When one gets older, the hands aren't as steady like they used to be, even with a small pancake lens I have issues. I don't always want to use a fast shutter speed either to prevent movement.

Thanks for the reminder though.

Google universal monopod feet and buy a set for the monopod you already have.

The free one I got is a real cheap-o. The bottom of it doesn't screw off believe it or not. What a great suggestion though. Thanks.

I would like to purchase a monopod. I got one free with one of my zoom lens last year. I'm not real steady holding my camera and this helps "somewhat." I've noticed there are monopods out that have 3 feet which I think would even help me more. The one I got free is just a straight piece. Does anybody have a suggestion which one would be a good one to purchase? I don't always like setting up a tripod for a quick shot. I was just curious if anyone else uses a monopod. Thanks in advance for any input.

I was lucky to catch photos of both these Warblers this past week. The Chestnut-sided Warbler was hanging on our back door. Pardon the dirty window. Nothing but rain here. I live in NW Wisconsin. These were taken with my Canon Rebel T6s.

A couple of observations...

1. OUTSTANDING photos! Very clear and great detail. Nicely done! :)

2. The Tamron 70-300mm is a great lens - I have one for my Nikon D3300 and it's great when you need the extra reach. Plus, on a crop-sensor camera, the effective range is more like 450mm. There is some variation in the build quality though, and it took me three tries to get a lens with the sharpness everyone was raving about.

3. You said, "Yes they were cropped. I don't have the originals." What are you using for your post processing? Most programs are what are called "non-destructive" which means that you always have the original - the program simply stores and applies each incremental adjustment to produce the final version you see.

Thanks for all the information. As far as post processing, I use Photoshop Elements 14. The problem is .... my computer crashed within the last month and I had to reinstall the program on my new computer so I doubt I can get that original shot back. I normally back up all my photos on an external drive, but in this case I just backed up all the cropped ones thinking I wouldn't need the originals again.
