Wow - I thought this topic would bring out passionate opinions and I was right! For my part, I hope some manufacturers will add viewfinders to some compact cameras. My Canon S110 is perfect except for that one thing!

I am really on the fence about this! I have been using Elements since version 3 (now I have 11). There's still plenty for me to learn, especially about layer manupulation. On the other hand, how great would it be to dip a toe into the real full-featured Photoshop........

I like the photo. I didn't touch the foreground or the falls. I pulled some shadows out of the tree area and did very minor tweaks on the temple and the sky.

I guessed that it would be something very pretty - turned out to be magnificent! Thanks.

My reasons, in no particular order, are storytelling, creating, and problem-solving, although some of the problems are ones I've created ;)

I really enjoy my Canon S110, and it is very small, if that's important to you.

We will be going to the Chihuly Garden and Glass in Seattle for the first time. Any advice on what setting to use for taking pictures there. I have seen lots of pictures taken there and would like mine to look just as great as the ones I have seen.
I know there has to be some tricks to it.
Thanks in advance

Don't miss nearby Tacoma! There you will find Chihuly's notable glass bridge, as well as beautiful windows and fixtures in the former railroad station.

There's a rustic barn about five miles from my house. I am going to photograph it this week. Just in case.

I absolutely agree with Kuzano's advice about purchasing a used Canon S 90-120 series if it's available in the $100 range. I have a S110, a newer model with touch screen and wifi, but rarely need those features. What I do value is Camera Raw and the ability to use automatic or manual modes.

I had a Fuji 2650 that I bought in 2003, and honestly, it changed my life!
