I love the colors this time of year, now certain parts of Going to the Sun Road are closed to vehicle traffic beyond certain gates. On the west side they closed the gate at Avalanche Creek, and on the east side at the Jackson Glacier observation area on Sunday Oct 15th. I just might have to rent a bike until the snow starts falling, and attempt to get some more photos.

When did u take these?

Well, if you are free to travel:

instead of flying to Milwaukee and heading northwest, just go due west. Or a few miles South. For that matter, go to O’Hare in Chicago and be 60 miles south of Mikwaukee, and a few weeks ahead of the color change. The Morton Arboretum, west of Chicago, is always nice.

Colors on Sunday were just starting to change in central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland. The DC area might be nice next week or shortly after.

Thank you ! too late now; leaving in a few days to go to Caddo Lake area for workshop

In the Dells area, my favorite location is Mirror Lake State Park. Just south of the ‘strip’. If you can get into a boat you’ll appreciate the reason it is called Mirror Lake. The still water smoothly reflects the shoreline colors.

Thank you !! too late this year

my initial plan to try to go to the NY Finger Lakes region is being quashed, because it looks like rain will fall for 5 of the next 8 days.

plan B: hop on a plane, fly to Milwaukee, and drive to the Wisconsin Dells. Cannot find a really good website for up to the date foliage report on the Dells; can anyone who has been there, or anyone who might live near there, help me?

I’d probably take both lenses and start with the 40-150 and if not long enough use the 75-300. Presumably it’s daylight so it should be ok. The OM-1 does well at higher ISO so don’t be afraid to bump it up if needed to get a high shutter speed. With long lenses the rule of thumb is 1/focal length (full frame) minimum shutter speed. You might also consider bringing a tripod.

The 12-200 mZuiko gives you the equivalent of a 24-400; that's my walkaround lens; I have a 100-400 mZuiko
for appropriate uses

I’m in Western New York, just south of Buffalo, and we have about 98% of he leaves still green. Finger Lakes Region is roughly 3 1/2 - 4 hours away, not sure if I help you or not but I’ve been watching closely!

Thanks

Generally speaking, my understanding is that this continues for 2-3 weeks?
