A slightly different view; the saddle between the south peak and north peak is in plain sight. I also like the feathered appearance of the tree skylined on the extreme right in this image.

Very nice. As already mentioned, the contrast is awesome, :-)

LOL - I found this page of equipment needed in the Adjustment's section of the link.

Wow, maybe if I get that far I can find a local Canon shop. Thanks. :-)

Not an easy task even with a manual spent years building optical assemblies at LockheedMartin you need special tools without experience it can be difficult good luck if you try might be better to send to Canon

Thanks, I don't think it is worth sending to Canon. I've seen some horror stories of repair jobs that ended up costing two or three times as much as originally planned. I can probably buy a 5D II for considerably less than a repair shop would cost. :-)

How do you test the shutter speed of a digial camera? I know how to do it on a film camera but don't have the faintest idea on how to do it with a digital camera.
A high quality shutter tester like the Kyoritsu EF-8000 has a light source which is calibrated and variable. Has a 3 points sensor which you put on the focal plane. You can test shutter speed accuracy, shutter curtain travel time, exposure accuracy. But how do you put the sensor at the focal plane of the digital camera. You have to remove the imaging sensor?????

Cool thanks :-)

What are you wanting to test on the shutter? Speeds and exposure require a piece of test equipment simply called a shutter tester. Some have both these features combined, others require separate pieces of equipment to test both speeds and exposure. These are expensive and usually owned exclusively by camera repair shops. most shops will test the shutter for you free of charge.

Don't want to test anything in particular at the moment. Just want to dry out an immersed 5D II and see if I can get it back together.

You'll need more than good luck to accomplish this idea. You might find a left-handed monkey wrench first...

Roger that, this is going to be my winter night project. :-)

First, Good Luck.
But the most critical things are time submerged, time the camera has been wet, and contaminants in the water.
Many contaminants, especially salt make the water conductive which shorts everything out.
Most screws are hidden under the camera covering.
I haven't seen technical manuals published, but that doesn't mean they are not out there.
If it had a weather sealed lens on it and it was a quick dunk, you will be in better shape than if the camera was internally flooded.
Generally the prognosis is not great, and having it professionally serviced might not be worth it.
But you never know until you try
If it was a short dunk with a lens on you could try removing Battery & lens and slightly warming the camera (a heat lamp intermittently from maybe 3-4' away and a fan.
Good luck

Yup, I thought about most of that. It was powered on when it got immersed, I have little hope that everything is going to work right if I get it dried out and back together. Hence doing it myself and not wasting time and money at the repair shop. I can imaging one thing after another not working. So this is just a personal challenge. If it works, fine, if not, I have another 5D II and a 6D.

Yea, wow, that's a lot of stuff. If I don't figure it out, I doubt that a 5D II is worth the cost of repair. I can probably buy a good used one for less.

If you find any service manual for any digital camera let me know. I would like to find out how they test the shutter.

Roger that, I hadn't thought of that but it could very well be an issue if it even works if I get it back together.

I'm looking for a manual that will show me how to completely disassemble and reassemble a 5D II. It fell in fell in a river and is totally saturated with water. I want to totally disassemble it and dry it out and put it back together and see if it still works.
