Will do Jim, Thanks!
Please keep inspiring us as Mars reaches opposition.
This is what the BIG scopes are made for.

I'm hoping my Parallelogram gets here in time so we can binocular it.

Thank you very much.
Check out last nights shot.
I’m probably going to setup tonight and hope for better seeing than last night.
Stay safe...

I have the same scope but camera is ZWO ASI178MC. You have given me hope of getting a good shot of Mars.

You should be able to.
Tonight is the closest but it’s still going to be a great show for quite a few days.
Here’s hoping you have clear skies.
Stay safe...

Another great shot. The sky here in Grass Valley Ca was just too turbulent last night to get good image. I hope tonight will be better.

Thank you very much for the compliment.
I hope you have clear skies.

nice detail

I have a C 8 and a meade 10" Lx200

Thank you very much.
I used a Celestron 236C CMOS camera shooting at 40 frames per second last night. I was fighting high upper winds and some of Sonny’s darn smoke particles. I had a very small window that allowed me to actually capture at that rate.
I stacked using Autostakkert2 and ran wavelets in Registax6. Final cropping and tweaks were done in Photoshop CC.
I hope you have clear skies.
Stay safe.

Tonight I setup and aligned my Celestron 11" SCT
I pretty much followed the same routine as last night and here are the results.

Your way...

Must be working!

Yep, she is really doing amazing, considering.
She had a total hip replacement.
It was an outpatient procedure.
She had a spinal block and "milk" (Propanifal-der-ral-der-whatever (Sp) )
And once they gave her the right stuff for the pain she was comfortable. Hydrocodone + APAP. The tramadol was making her nauseous. (I called it damnitall. The PT cracked up)
She'll be 2 weeks out tomorrow and ready to go to a cane instead of her walker.

I told her she was going to have to get tough if she was going to run with me.
She might be even tougher....

I'm hoping to get some sky time tonight... Last night was cloudy, night before was smokey.
No rest for the wicked.
I have several fans buzzing in the backyard trying... (show quote)

Give her my best please.
Jim

Excellent shot. Thanks for the info on how you took the image.

Thank you for the compliment.
I try to pass along what I did in case it might help someone else. It may not always be good for someone else but it’s what worked for me.
As we get closer to opposition I am going to change over to my 11 inch SCT and get it aligned. I hope weather stays reasonably clear.

Looks Great, Jim!

Good to see you getting some time in!

I'm somewhat busy with the wife recuperating from a hip replacement. So when I can get some time, the smoke or clouds are FUBARing my opportunity.

I was wondering about you and your wife.
Sorry about her surgery but she’ll be back to it in no time.
Can’t help with the smoke but I wish you would send it somewhere else.
Be safe...

I don't get in here very much any more but wanted to share tonights shot of Mars.
The particulars are as follows
Celestron C8 on a Celestron CGEM mount.
Images captured with a Celestron 236C Cmos video camera.
Shot at 1/130 second at 40 frames per second with a Celestron 2X barlow.
I processed 12% of 2400 frames in Autostakkert 2 and adjusted wavelets in Registax6 for sharpness.
Final crop and cleanup in Photoshop.
Still dealing with smoke here in Albuquerque as well and tonight is starting to settle into the valley.
Stay Safe...

I just finished a stack of 1500 frames and the edge artifact is still there but more surface detail was pulled.
Again not great and not sure what the issue is but here is that shot cropped and resized for detail.

Glad to see you getting some sky time.
Our Brush Fire smoke is finally beginning to move off.
Unfortunately that means towards you....

The next time some idiots want to set off a bomb for a gender reveal party, I hope they do it downrange of a busy rifle range. Morons! This fire is most likely to puke your air up.
It's great, Jim! br Glad to see you getting some s... (show quote)

Thanks Sonny.
I've been seeing quite a bit of smoke and right now we are getting smoke from Oregon swirling in from the North East. We have a stationary high that is stuck over Arizona so not getting your smoke just yet..
I was going to try and shoot it again last night but the winds were nasty at higher levels.
I'll add a screen shot of the wind profile I had along with a picture of the sunset the last couple of nights.
Stay safe my friend.
